Construction on Downtown Tigard's Main Street Coming Soon
Tigard's Main Street Green Street Project will be underway in January 2014—right after the
holiday rush is over for downtown businesses. The project will rebuild the southern half of Main Street
in Downtown Tigard, from Pacific Highway/99W to the railroad crossing. Project improvements
include creating an attractive streetscape to enhance the downtown business environment, improving
circulation for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, and encouraging people to visit and shop in the
downtown area.
The project is funded through a $2.54 million grant from Metro, and Kodiak Pacific
Construction is the contractor for the project. "We are thrilled to have Kodiak Pacific Construction as
our contractor for this important project in the heart of our city. Kodiak was the contractor that
successfully completed the New Burnham Street Project, on-time and on-budget. They have
experience working in similar business districts and understand the need to keep our downtown open
for business," said Tigard project manager Kim McMillan,P.E.
Work is scheduled to start on January 6, 2014; the project should be completed in about 11
months—in November 2014. While the project is underway, the Downtown will be open for business.
Streets and sidewalks will be accessible and parking will be available along Main Street and at several
public parking lots.
Beginning January 14, representatives from the city and the construction company will provide
construction updates every Tuesday at 7 a.m. at Symposium Coffee, 12345 SW Main St.,in downtown
Tigard. Anyone interested in the project is welcome to attend.
