Tigard Police K-9 Brings In 12th
Capture This Year
On December 101h at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Tigard Police Officer along with his K-9
partner, responded to a call of a theft which had just occurred at the Walmart Store located on
Dartmouth St. in Tigard. An employee called police to report a woman had left the store with a
shopping cart full of merchandise without paying. When the Tigard officer arrived, he spotted the
suspect running from the parking lot into a wooded area located behind the store. The suspect
continued to flee despite the verbal commands from the officer.
An Oregon State Police trooper radioed being in the area and able to assist. The trooper was
directed to a position opposite from where the Tigard K-9 was about to track into an area heavy
with vegetation and trees where the suspect was last seen entering. Within minutes, Baxter, the
Tigard Police K-9, located and flushed the suspect out of the woods and into the waiting
handcuffs of the trooper. This incident reflects both the successes of interagency cooperation as
well as the 12th K-9 capture so far this year. With this most recent locate, Baxter s career
captures now total 80 suspects.
The suspect, Alexandra Johnston, was arrested for theft, interfering with a police officer, false
information to police and four outstanding felony warrants; one of which had nationwide
extradition noted. Johnston was lodged at the Washington County Jail.
