RE: Change form OPG6010 mullions to OPG2910
Dear Leslie,
Based on our email correspondence, I understand that the curtain wall system used in the TVF&R
Station 51 has changed from a 6" system to a 7" system. The new vertical mullions are Arcadia
OPG2910 extrusions and will be used in place of the OPG6010 mullions used in the structural
calculations. I have reviewed the section properties of the new mullions and they exceed those of the
original design. I have attached a sheet with the new section properties. Based on the new mullions,the
original calculations are conservative and do not require changes.

• Mullions are assumed to be single span,simple beam elements,uniformly loaded and adequately braced la prevent lateral-lorsional buckling.All other complex design conditions shall
be reviewed by Arcadia or a design professional.
• Aluminum extrusions shall be 6063-T6 alloy.Allowable stresses to be denved per Table 2-21 of Aluminum Design Manual,2010. Deflection limitation of mullions shall be in
accordance with AAMA TIA-A11 of U175 for spans up to 13'-6'and U240.114'for all others where L is equal to the span of mullion.
• A design professional shall be consulted to confirm that no life of glass deflects more than H1175 or 314'.whichever is less,where H indicates the height of glass.
• For mullions containing steel reinforcement,the reinforcement is assumed to be installed for the hull length of the mullion.A design professional shall be consulted for instances where
steel reinforcement is installed for a partial length of the mullion span.
• Windload pressure determinations shall be per the 2009 BC and ASCE 7-05 and according to local governing codes.A professional engineer shall be consulted for the most current
laws and local building codes.
• Selection of perimeter fasteners and attachment of glazing system to building structure are project specific and therefore shall be reviewed and determined by a design professional.
• Arcadia assumes no responsibility for selecting the appropriate systems for specific projects.
