Storm Pipe Sag/ Certification
As requested, we have reviewed the Pipeline Video Reports for the onsite stormwater system
prepared by Pacific Ant-R-Tek dated August 12, 2014, as provided by ESI. The reports indicated
that storm pipes 6, 7, and 49 provide numerous sags, ranging from approximately %4" to over 1 "
(identified as a maximum of 1-V4" by ESI). The pipes in question include: storm pipe 6 located
between manholes 4 and 5, storm pipe 7 located between manholes 5 and 6, and storm pipe 49
located between manholes 53 and 55. All three pipes are designed to be 18" storm lines. Note
that while the video reports indicate that pipes 6 and 7 are 15" diameter, ESI confirmed that those
pipes are in fact 18" diameter per the design drawings (see attached).
The design slope for storm pipes 6 and 7 was 0.46% and 0.47%, respectively. The as-built slopes
as measured by Kerr construction are 0.47°/a for pipe 6, and 0.53% for pipe 7. Both as-built
slopes exceed the design slope. The design slope for storm pipe 49 was 0.50%. The as-built
slope measured by Kerr Construction is 0.45%. While this is slightly less than the design slope, it
is within allowable limits and will still accommodate the design conveyance rate.
Bellies within a storm pipe have the potential to lead to increased sediment accumulation in the
bottom of the pipe. This in turn could require additional maintenance to clean the pipe to
maintain adequate flows. However, in this case, even if sediment accumulated in the
approximate 1-3/4" belly of the pipe, the remaining pipe section and overall pipe slope would still
provide sufficient flows to convey the design storm. In addition, we understand the Walmart
Construction Manager has accepted the bellies as constructed.

requirements to convey the required hydraulic flow rate of the design storm event.

Good morning. We set up a rotary laser and shot the in/out elevations on manholes 4,5, and 6. Between
manholes 4 and 5 there is .66' of grade differential at the ie.'s. There is .38' of fall between manholes 5 and 6.
The design plans list these as .67'and .33' respectively. We didn't have a good point to use for a bench mark, so
I dont have actual elevations. We could have used the slab of retail 2, but the parking lot was crowded, and we
would have had to transfer grades several times. Let me know if this works,thanks.

Per our conversation today, attached is a map of the onsite storm water pipe system. Per the attached certification
reports,there are a couple of portions noted on the map that exceed the allowable 1"sag by approximately 1/8"to
'/<". As we discussed, it is not expected this deflection will in any way compromise the functionality of the system. We
are prepared to make these repairs but it will require cutting into the asphalt. Given the quality of the asphalt paving,
the minimal deflection may not be enough of a concern to justify creating asphalt patches in the new parking lot.
