Youth Advisory Council - Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 5:30 p.m.
MEETING LOCATION: Tigard Public Library 2nd Floor Conference Room
13500 SW Hall Blvd, Tigard OR 97223
1. CALL TO ORDER
This meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Carter Kruse, Caleb Torgerson, Rayman Kirby, Shaun Rasmusen,Jezeth
Zaragoza, Mike Coloma, Amy Jensen, Christopher Rebolledo,Joseph Murche, Maddie Joel,
Zahra Hashmat, Adam LaFountain
Absent members: Nathan Ung, Zach Dean,Jordan Stephens, Breanna Bennett, Elsa
Schuman-Lanier, Tyler Nickla
3. OLD BUSINESS:
• Mike moved to approve last minute's meetings, Caleb seconded the motion and the
motion passed
• An anonymous donor has paid for all of our shirts. Zach has all of our shirts and they will be
distributed at the next meeting
• Our Warm Clothing Drive was a great success!
• Community Spotlight: A letter has been created to reach out to elementary and middle
schools to help with creating nominations for the Community Youth Spotlight
• Restaurant Fundraiser: A fundraiser is set up with Burgerville, but our funds need a
place to be donated to
• Youth Summit: The Youth Summit will take place in April. Possible speakers:
Rutschman (self-help), Suttich (personal finance), Stover (GSA),Jolley (STUDD), Ison
(unknown), Manning (Public speaking/Feminism),Johnson (unknown), Pelicci (variety
of topics), Fulton or Laiti (technology), some City Council members, Zach Dean/Henry
Amman/Carter Kruse (entrepenuership). A motivational speaker will be asked to be the
central speaker of the event (Lou Rahja, Eric Thomas).
4.NEW BUSINESS
• Going out to middle and elementary schools for DARE or GSA awareness will take place
in late January-mid February. Once an actual week has been picked, we will decide whether
an officer or ourselves as a council will go to the schools
• Other activities: A mentor program may be set up to help middle schoolers make the

transition to high school (Talk to councilors when they will go out to middle schools for
forecasting, so that we can go with them), go to elementary schools to teach kindergarteners
to read, (Tiny Tigers preschool?), chaperoning the Special-Ed department on field trips
