The Big Band concert, held June 6, drew a large crowd. Nicole Mones' reading of The
Last Chinese Chef was also well-attended as were the other Chinese-themed events.
The 2009 Community Read book has already been chosen: Stubborn Twig. Library
statistics continue to remain well above average — 529 new cards were issued and the
gate count showed 36,826 visitors during the month of May.

and flyers, will be handed out at the Festival.
Next Friday evening, June 20, Philip Margolin, The New York Times best-selling
mystery author will kick off the 13`h Annual Adult Summer Reading Program with his
newly-released book, Executive Privilege.
Other Business
Library Trends — None.
CCI — No report.
Donated artwork - A large southwestern-themed picture, drawn in chalk, had
been offered to the Library with a request to hang it in the Children's area. The
Board reviewed the piece and, although considered a colorful, whimsical
drawing, the southwestern theme did not fit with current Library artwork. It was
suggested that the owner consider donating it to a Head Start, or equivalent,
facility.
Adiournment: There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
As the July Board meeting was cancelled, the next Library Board meeting is scheduled
for Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Tigard
Public Library, 13500 SW Hall Blvd.
