RE: Bonita Pump Station, Tigard, OR
Project No. 175069
Dear Mr. McMullen,
A structural review of the plans for the above noted project has been completed. Additional
information or clarification is needed for the following items in order to complete the review.
1. Sheet S1 specifies a snow load(Pf) of 25 psf, whereas the calculations use 20 psf.
Provide clarification. OSSC Sec. 1608
2. The calculations do not appear to add the 5 psf rain-on-snow to the minimum 20 psf roof
snow. OSSC Sec. 1608.1
3. Snow drift calculations appear to use a length (lu) of 20 feet. Note that if lu is less than
25 feet, lu=25 is to be used in the computations. ASCE 7-05 Figure 7-9
4. Snow load calculations (SL& SU) appear to use pf as opposed to the minimum roof load
of 20 psf. Provide clarification. OSSC Sec. 1608
5. Calculations for the masonry walls use f m=1900,whereas specifications on sheet S1
indicate 1500 psi. Provide clarification. OSSC Sec. 2101
6. Wall to diaphragm connection calculations reference ASCE 7, Eqn. 12.11-1. This does
not appear to coincide with ASCE 7-05 Section 12.11.2.1. Provide clarification.
7. Clarify how the end wall to roof diaphragm connection meets the requirements of ASCE
7-05, Sec. 12.11.2.2.4.
8. Structural calculations indicate#6 vertical reinforcing 16"o.c. for the tapered walls.
Where is this specified in the plans? OSSC Sec. 107.1
9. Provide calculations for the canopy angle brace end connections. OSSC Sec. 1604.2
10. Clarify where reinforcing is specified for the footings shown on sheet SD 1. OSSC Sec.
1901.4
11. Detail references on sheet S5 are incomplete. OSSC Sec. 107.1
In order to expedite the review, please provide a written response indicating how each item is
addressed and which sheet, detail, or calculation contains the information. Should you have
questions or need additional information, please contact me at your convenience.
