The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC) 2004 edition;
and the State of Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the -
following conditions.
1 1. The main exterior door or doors are permitted to be equipped with key - operated locking devices from
the egress side provided:
1. The locking device is readily distinguishable as locked,
2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door
stating. THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED.
The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25 mm) high on a contrasting background. Sec. 1008.1.8.3
2. All exit doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge
or effort Sec. 1008.1.8
3. Exits and exit access doors shall be marked by an approved exit sign readily visible from any direction of
egress travel. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs in cases where the exit or the
path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Sec. 1011.1
4. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times and shall be provided with a second source of power that will
provide 1 1/2 hours of illumination in case of primary power loss. Sec. 1006.3 FYI Additional exit signs
may be required by the city field inspector to clearly indicate the path of egress.
5. The means of egress shall be provided with illumination of not less than 1 foot candle at the floor level
anytime the building is occupied. The means of egress illumination shall be provided with a second
source of power in case of primary power loss. Sec. 1006.2
\\\' Provide 2 -A rated fire extinguisher in new store and storage area. The extinguisher shall be located so
that no usable space has a distance greater than 75 feet to the extinguisher. OFC 906.3

7. Accessible checkout aisles shall be on an accessible route and at least 36 inches wide. Counters in
accessible checkout aisles shall be not more than 38 inches (965 mm) high and the top of the raised
edge of the counter shall not exceed 40 inches (1016 mm) in height above the finished floor. Accessible
checkout aisles shall be identified by the international symbol of access. Sec. 1109.19, 1109.23.3
8. Doors to unisex toilet rooms shall be securable from within the room and be provided with a privacy
lock and an "occupied" indicator. 1109.10.12.4 OSSC
9. Floor drains shall not be located within the clear floor space at a lavatory, water closet, urinal, or
bathtub or shower. Floors shall not slope in excess of 1 unit vertical in 50 units horizontal (2-
percent slope). Floor drains shall comply with Section 1109.4.5 and be without abrupt changes of
level. Exception: Floor drains may be located within a clear floor space at a frxture provided the openings in the
drain cover shall not exceed 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) in any direction and the drain cover shall be no more than 118 inch
below the level of the su►rounding finished floor surface. 1109.10.1 OSSC
10. Safety glazing including but not limited to: the following locations: Each unit of glazing shall
be permanently identified by the manufacturer. Sec. 2406. Some of these locations are as follows:
a. Glazing in ingress and means of egress doors.
b. Glazing in an individual fixed or operable panel adjacent to a door where the nearest vertical
edge is within a 24" arc of the door in a closed position and whose bottom edge is less than
60" above the floor or walking surface except when there is an intervening wall or other
permanent barrier between the door and the glazing.
11. Deferred submittals such as Truss Joist Shop Drawings, suspended ceiling system etc, will be charged
a deferred submittal fee based on the valuation of the portion of the work being deferred. The
minimum fee shall be $200.00. This fee is in addition to the project plan review fee based on the total

"Documents for deferred submittal items shall be submitted to the registered design pmfessional in responsible charge who
shall review them and forward them to the building official with a notation indicating that the deferred submittal documents
have been reviewed and been found to be in general conformance to the design of the building. The deferred submittal items
shall not be installed until the design and submittal documents have been approved by the building official Oregon Structural
Specialty Code Section 106.3.4.2"

Chapter 11 of the OSSC, which may not include all of the requirements of the ADA.

1. Provide engineer design calculations showing ceiling system meets chapter 16

2. Provide egress path information (The construction documents shall show in
sufficient detail the location, construction, size and character of all portions of the
means of egress in compliance with the provisions of this code. The construction
documents shall designate the number of occupants to be accommodated on every
floor, and in all rooms and spaces. OSSC 106.1.2). The egress path and exiting
has been added to the F1 plan.
3. Provide engineered design calculations on stand alone store, front system. OSSC
106 chapter 16. See the attached engineers package.
4. Sheet A3 reflected ceiling shows the us of 8x8 cedar beams (HT OSSC 603.1 (16))
and on sheet A3.1 shows 8x8 cedar box beam. Box beam not allowed in type I1B
construction per OSSC 603.1 Provide cross section wit attachments using 8x8
(HT) as noted on sheet A3 along with design calculations for the attachments.
OSSC 106 & ch 16. The 8x8 cedar beam is in fact a box beam. Per the code
we have added the note FRT or "fire retardant treated" to all components of
the box beam. The attachment details are noted and separate calculations
