RE: CLARIFICATION OF ISSUES DISCOVERED DURING CONSTRUCTION
The city would approve the relocation of the existing holddowns on either side of the front door on the
South side of the building as discussed with Tigard senior building inspector Chip Barnett. The overall
width of the plywood shear wall diaphragm would not be reduced. In order to maintain an equal or
greater tension strength as allowed per the Simpson Strongtie connectors catalog, the relocated
holdowns would require 7/8" threaded rod embedded a minimum of 6" into the concrete using Simpson
Set Epoxy Anchoring Adhesive. Special inspection would be required.
Based on consultation with Darron Hayden of Hayden Consulting Engineers, The remaining shear wall
located on the Northeast side of the building would be adequate to resist lateral forces. The city
approves the continued installation of the roll -up door per the original plan.
We are waiting to hear back on from Darron Hayden regarding solutions to the opening in the shearwall
identified on the original plans as shearwall #6. Further clarification will follow upon his findings.
