This report discusses the final addition to Twality Junior High Ochool.
The present capacity is approximately 700 students. With the proposed
fao'ility, the schcol will be able to house 1,000 pupils. Thu 1967-08
average daily m..mbership was 714.
The existing school was constructed in two phases. The nrst unit was
opened the fall of 1960. The sec —1 unit as oompTetfl the .)964-65 sehool
year. It war anticipated that the third unit would be construeed on the
north side of the building, but no comprehensive master pan was propose00

of approximately 1,000 studetwo 13 the wont oducaJ;ionally offe(Alvo, and
efficient. Growth beyond this number will necessitate the uoaybruction
of a new school.
The improvement of instruction to amorij the MOW6 importnt oals e fuoation
today. To help attain thin goal, one of the keynotes is fleb11t Now
programs are emerging from the new ideas and Tw)v/ ap enrho t1t err 10111C
investigated in various parts of the country. As better ways of LeacUng
continue to evolve, we will need a facility in whleh we cavi
programs we evaluate an being desirable. The proposed additton will ;ive
the total phyolcal plant the desired tle.7Jbil:tty.
Much of the flexibility we desire is to be accomplished by the uoe e folding
walls. We have found ne two modules of two rooms each in our 1964-6 M61-
tion to be very usable. This arranroment 13 ua,P.Lei-J 11)12,6 tric,o moqu.Lr'n ot
two rooms each in the proposed addition.
Large group instruction in various forms has been found to be the most of
for certain situations.

As we have grown over the years, we have found the teachers using the special
talents of guest speakers to envier their classes. To enable toe guest to
speak to more than one class at a tt,..e, an area larger than a regular class
room is needed. With continuing increases in :tudent population, we find more
teachers who WIs I. to work together in presenting an 10ea r a tooie. To pro-
vide a facility for this type of learning experience, we are int'luding a large
group instruction area.
A classroom that car I used for the teaching of typiii ts provided.
The library is used extensively by classes and by ilidivIduals. To provide
additional library urea, a resource center is plLnned. Yew:hem, workin with
the librarian, may have reference materials placed in the resource center for
use by a class or by a group of students . lAtpplomenary ins1;ructioyial ma*,;evial
and equipment is available to the rsource center from the au61 o-visual POOT.
The existing industrial arts facility s used full time with some of the
introductory classes being conducted in the crafts room. With the addition
of a second shop, it will be possible to provide el:poiencus in power mechanics,
electricity, metal and wood.
v
Since the fall of 1966, we have had a class for mentally retarded children
in the school, but we have not had the desired room for oh a class. A
special classroom is included in the plans.
Twality Junior High Schoo2, with the proposed addition; will he a very coed,
functional building that should be able to meet the needs of on,,, thousLuO
pupils for many years to come. Although not pretentious or elaborate, the
school will be flexible enough to accomodate most of the oc,sgred programr3
of today and of the future.
