Provide 42 in. high guardrail inside Door 4. No landing is indicated on exterior side. 2. Provide control details for the automatic smoke detector shutdown of the air handling equipment. The mechanical and plumbing systems are also approved, and separate permits are required for that work. You may get all of the permits for this project at your convenience. Macadam Avenue Portland, Oregon 97201 RE: Mechanical Penthouse Meier & Frank Washington Square Gentlemen: The plans submitted to this office on February 21, 1989 have been reviewed and approved, subject to the following requirements and /or comments: 1. Exit Door Hardware: All doors shown on the drawings must be openable from the inside for immediate exit at all times without the use of a key, special knowledge, or effort. UBC Sec. 3304 2. Landings at Doors: There must he a floor or landing on each side of all doors. The floor or landing must not be more than one -inch lower than the threshold of the doorway unless serving access for the physically handicapped. UBC Sec. 3304(h) 3. Fire Extinguisher Required: A fire extinguisher having a minimum rating of 2A10B:C must he placed in an accessible location within plain view. UFC Sec. 10.301(a) 4. Approved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans hearing the stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this office must he maintained on the project site throughout all phases of construction and must be made available to building and fire inspectors for reference during required construction inspections. UBC Sec. 303 5. Certificate of Occupancy Required: Prior to the use and occupancy of the project (space), a certificate of occupancy or other written instrument of approval must be obtained from the City of Tigard Building Department. Exit Ways /Temporary Walls: During construction and relocation of the new penthouse mechanical room, special care should be taken that no exit ways on either floor (1st or 2nd) become obstructed or blocked due to the new construction of this project. Further, temporary walls to be constructed in the 2nd level training and accessory rooms, as rioted on the plans, shall provide easy access to the exit ways. At no time should access be obstructed by these walls. It shall be further noted that fire protection for the penthouse shall be done as prescribed on page FP -1, thus the alteration of the sprinkler system and the alarm system shall meet the intent of all applicable codes. This new penthouse shall become the housing unit for the air conditioning and air handling for this occupancy. Two new air handling units are to be installed and at the end of this project the old penthouse is to be demolished and the units therein removed from the site project. ii
