The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code
(OMSC) 2007 edition; and the State of Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2007 edition. The
submitted plans are approved subject to the following.
1. Ductwork shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning
Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA)
2. Each appliance shall be provided with a shutoff valve separate from the
appliance. The shutoff valve shall be located in the same room and within six feet
of the appliance served. Access shall be provided to the shutoff valve. C409.5

3. Equipment and appliances regulated by this code requiring electrical connections
shall have a positive means of disconnect in accordance with the Electrical Code.

4. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement
without removal of permanent construction. 306.1 OMSC
5. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the jobsite at the
time of inspection. 304.1 OMSC
6. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged
to an approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. 307.1 OMSC
7. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design
capacity greater than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall
shut down the air distribution system. Smoke detectors shall be connected
to a fire alarm system or shall activate an audible and visible alarm at a

8. Suspended -type unit heaters shall be supported by non - combustible elements
that are designed and constructed to accommodate the weight and dynamic
loads and shall be sway braced. 920.2 OMSC

9. Prefabricated refrigeration panels installed in Oregon shall bear one Oregon
insignia of compliance located on the exterior side of the panel located nearest
the door prior to final inspection.
10. Every refrigerant- containing part of every system that is erected on the premises
shall be tested and proved tight after complete installation, and before operation.
Tests shall include both the high and low- pressure sides of each system.
11. Provide drawings for attachment of all equipment on the roof showing connection
of any curb to roof and equipment to the curb. Provide calculations and drawings
showing seismic attachment of all equipment with a weight 4001b or greater.
12.A Performance Test shall be conducted upon the type 1 hood at completion and
before final approval of the installation of the ventilation system. The
performance test shall verify the rate of airflow to be in compliance with the
approved plans. 507.17 OMSC The exhaust and make -up air system shall be
electronically interlocked to ensure that the make -up air is provided whenever the
exhaust system is in operation. 508.1 OMSC An automatic fire suppression
system shall be provided to protect the surface of the heat - processing appliances
and the exhaust system serving the appliances. 509.2 OMSC
13. Fire and smoke dampers shall be provided with an approved means of access,
large enough to permit inspection and maintenance of the damper and its
operating parts. Access points shall be permanently identified on the exterior by
a label. Access doors in ducts shall be tight fitting and suitable for the required
duct construction.
14. Inspector may require additional sway bracing at the final installation inspection.
Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp,
shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division
inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC
Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new
buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road
fronting the property.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City
of Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
