RE: Mervyn's Exiting Requirements
Dear Patrick,
Your request regarding the new second floor entry to the
adjacent parking structure as a non - required exit was
received on September 29, 1993.
Please be advised that this entry-to the adjacent parking
structure is not a required exit. The existing building
does comply with Section 3303 of the 1993 Oregon
Structural Specialty Code for the minimum number of exits
required from the second floor. However, if a future
request is made to modify, alter, or eliminate this
entry, the building would be reviewed to ensure
compliance with exiting requirements in affect at such
time. If there is a code change in the future which
would indicate that the existing exiting from Mervyn's
was insufficient, the removal of these doors would
require close scrutiny. We do not foresee any code
changes in the near future which would indicate any
problems.
If we can be of further assistance, please do not
hesitate to contact me.
Since. ly,
D -vid Scott, P E.
