Dear Mr. Polk:
This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based
on the 1991 editions of the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) and
those sections of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and
Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) specifically referencing
the fire department, and other local ordinances and
regulations.
Plans submitted to this office for review and approval
of the above noted fire alarm system are conditionally
approved, subject to the following:
Based on a test to occur of visual fire alarms,
additional visual devices may be required to be
installed. This is based on Uniform Building Code
Section 3109(n)2 Paragraph 3 dealing with spaces
exceeding 100 feet in horizontal dimension and
requiring visual alarms placed around the perimeter of
said area. If the demonstration test reveals that
adequate illumination is provided, system may be
installed in accordance with submitted plans, otherwise
additional visual alarms will need to be installed.
This Plans Examiner is somewhat confused by single
tamper flow switches at multiple locations as there are
multiple valves and risers at each one of these

automatic sprinkler system locations. If the old
system is to be removed and the new system to be put
on, then each riser shall have a flow switch and each
valve shall be supervised.
A member of this office shall witness all tests.
Please provide 24 hour notification prior to
anticipated test times.
Once the system has been installed, completed, and
tested, a Completion Certificate shall be filled out
and forwarded to this office. Please note Completion
Certificate is located in National Fire Protection
Association Standard 72.
Approval of submitted plans is not an approval of
omissions or oversights by this office or of non-
compliance with any applicable regulations of local
government.
If I can be of any further assistance to you, please
feel free to contact me at 526 -2502.
Sincerely,
