2F PLANTING
1. Scope: Furnish all labor, materials , equipment required for all
planting as indicated on drawings.
•
A. Qua_ 1.ity: Provide at least one person who shall be present at
all times during execution of this portion of the work and who
shall be thoroughly familiar with the type of materials being
installed and the best methods for their installation, and who
shall direct all work performed under this section.
All plants and planting material shall meet or exceed the sped -
' fications of federal , state and county laws requiring inspec-
tion for plant disease and control.
Quality and size shall conform with the current edition of
"Horticultural Standards" for number one nursery grade stock
• • as adopted by the American Association of Nurserymen.
All plants shall be true to name and one of ea :h bundle or lot

the plants in accordance with the standards of practice of

D. Product Handli : Notify Architect of delivery schedule so
plant materials may be inspected upon job site delivery. ,
Remove unacceptable products immediately from job site. Do '
not deliver more plant materials than can be planted in one
day. Protect products against damage or dehydration. Cover
plant roots and root balls with r soil or other accepted mater-
ial upon job site delivery, if not to be planted ,within
four hours . Store plant materials in shade and protect
against harmful weather until planted. Maintain plant
materials not to be planted within four hours.
E. Guarantee: Landscaping is including in project guarantees
specified in General Conditions. Landscaping must be in. ,
'' healthy condition at end of guarantee period, or for one full
growing season from installation, whichever the later . .
2. Planting Materials

storage stock unacceptable. Free of disease, injury, insects or
scale. Full foliaged when in leaf. Trees well branched: Fur-
' nish balled and burlapped (BB) stock with natural ball. Furnish
container stock grown therin from 6 months to 2 years without

H. Mulching: Provide 2" thick minimum over planting beds
w�t in two days after planting. Prevent mulch contact with
plant foliage.
1 . Cleanina and Repairing e Maintain sidewalks and paved areas
clean at all times. Maintain vehicles and equipment in clean
condition to prevent soiling of roads , walks and other paved r
or surfaced areas. Clean, repair and touch up or replace
when directed, materials including work of other sections
which have been soiled, discolored or damaged by work of this
section. Remove excess materials and debris .from project
site upon work completion or sooner, if directed .
3. Maintenance : During period between plant installation and
final project acceptance, provide water, fertilizer, weed- •
ing, spraying, resetting of unstable or settled plants and
other maintenance necessary to assure healthy growth.

2E IRRIGATION
1. Work Included a.
Furnish labor, equipment and material required for the complete
installation of irrigation system as shown on the Drawings and
specified herein.
A. Quality Assurance: One person shall be present at all times
during the execution of this portion of the work who shall be
thoroughly familiar with the type of materials, being installed
and the manufacturer' s recommended methods of .installation,
and who shall direct , all work performed under this section.
Except where more stringent requirements are specified, con-
form to the Uniform Building Code as adopted and modified by
the State of Oregon, and all legally constituted authorities
having jurisdiction. If more restrictive than those speci-
fied herein, notify Architect prior to starting work.
B. Permits, Ordinances , Etc: Procure and pay for all necessary
permits and certif�.ca s required to complete the work speci-
fied. Make any and all required notification and comply with
all applicable stage and local ordinances.
C. Protections : Protect all completed work while accomplishing
work in this section. Verify location of other underground
facilities prior to doing work under this Section. Barri-
cade and cover as necessary all excavations to protect ped-
estrians, workmen, equipment and adjacent. ptoperties .
Protect active service lines indicated or not. Should Con-
z tractor encounter any lines not indicated, notify Architect $ •

D. Submittals: Within fifteen (15) days after award of Contract,

3. INSTALLATION
A. General: Prior to all work of this section, carefully inspect
the ed work trades and verify that all

C. SleeVe Installation: Install sleeves under hard surfaces con-
structed by other trades previous to their construction. In-
stall minimum 18 inches below finish grade for zone lines,
24 inches below finish grade for main line.
, D. piatag Installation: Provide 1 inch vertical and 2 inch hori-
zontal clearance between lines . Do not use solvent cement on
threaded joints, but wrap joints with minimum three wraps of
Teflon tape. Do nO solvent welding of pipe when raining or
temperature is below 50°F.
• E. Valve Installation: Install p„..umb according to manufacturer' s
airections .
F. Fluslliaas: Prior to installing sprinkler heads, all pipe
lines shall be thoroughly flushed and made free of dirt or
foreign material . Cap risers immediately after flushing
minimum 3 minutes. , ,
G. Pressure Testing: Maintain 100 psi pressure for 15 min-
utes before and during inspection. Installation may not leak
or lose pressure during test period. Detect and repair leaks
and retest system until Architect accepts.
H. Backfillisa: Delay until system is tested and accepted. Fill
trench to 6" over pipe with sand passing a 4" sieve and compact
with water. Fill remainder of trench, tamp or roll, and bring
• to finish grade at adjacent area compaction density.
I. Adiustments : Adjust moving parts to Architect' s satisfaction
• at time of final acceptance.
J. Restoration and Clean : Properly replace all features and
plant materlitig-disturbed during installation. Remove de-
bris from project site upon completion or sooner, if
directed.
K. Final Inspection : Thoroughly clean, adjust and balance all 1
systems. Demonstrate the entire system to Architect, proving
' that all remote control valves are properly balanced, that
(' all heads are properly adjusted for radius and arc of coverage,
and that the installed additional system is workable, clean
and efficient.
L. Maintenance Personnel: After the system has been completed,
inspected and approved, instruct the Owner' s maintenande
1 personnel in the operation and maintenance Of the irrigatiOn
system and demonstrate the contents of the manual furnished.
Schedule 48 hours in advance.
