SITE PLAN AND DESIGN REVIEW:
The applicant is proposing to construct an addition to the existing General
„ . Telephone Company central office building.
The subject site iS designated "Industrial" on the NPO 41 Plan and is zoned
M-4 Industrial Park.
The applicant is in conformance with applicable NPO Plan Policies.
The proposed parking plan needs to be revised to (a) provide for properly

maintained landscaped islands of a minimum eight (8) foot in width within
parking areas at approximately seventy (70) feet on center each way; include
• two (2) parking spaces for the handicapped a minimum of twelve (12) feet in
width to allow users to maneuver out of vehicles, to be adequately marked and
to be situated near building entrances to eliminate wheeling or walking behind
parked dars, and to ensure movement free of barriers such as curbs and other
abrupt changes in level, (h) provide a five foot raised landscaped median along
the abutting parking stalls.

' On the original Site Design Review - Staff Report Acknowledgement Metter, A
which I signed and returned on October 24, 1979, I questioned the purpose
and extent of items 1 (a) and 1 (b) regarding landscaped islands in the
parking areas and a raised landscaped median be6ween abutting parking
stalls, I subsequently talked with Azam Babar of your office and he said
he had relooked at these items and they would not be necessary. He also
stated that he would make this notation on the planning departments sets
• of drawings and reapplication was not lecessary.
It seems that since the acknowledgement letter is being returned for the
owner's signature, that the Staff. Recommendation be changed to reflect •
1 this decision.
I would also request that you consider the requirement for half-street
improvements along Burnham Road to City Collector Street Standards at
•
this time. General Telephone Company property has only a 100 foot front-
,•..
age, 90% of which is curb cut. This would mean the installation of a 5 c
foot patch of concrete at either end of the frontage. It would seem to
I me that this work would best be done in conjunction with the improvement
being made on the adjacent properties.
