CU 32-77 - On December 19, 1977, the Tigard City Council approved
' " a conditional use permit for a school gymnasium subject to the. •
following condition;
"That a pedestrian pathway, beginning at the access point from
the Launa Lynda subdivision to the school playground, be ex-
tended in a northerly direction connecting with the Templeton
School buildings; location of path subject to school district
approval . "
Parking Requirements :
The Tigard Municipal Code does not cover parking requirements for
a school gymnasium, Since an elementary school is not likely to
draw additional traffic because of the creation of a gymnasium, !'

Site Plan & Architectural Review:
• The applicant is proposing to build a 7,630 square foot; gymnasium
addition to Templeton Elementary School , The material concrete'

This is to advise you the District plans to install a pathway on the • , ,
James Templeton site from the Launa Lynda Subdivision to the
school when that subdivision is being developed in accord with the
requirements for a conditional use building permit for the Templeton
physical education building.
We have been informed by the engineer of the Launa Lynda Subdivision
m' that the project timeline has been set back and development is some :

The detailed specification for the pathway will be developed following
a study of playground site utilization which is planned for the coming
' months. As you know, we have a shortage of playfields in our community ' ' 4 t°

and our study is to determine if we can reasonably modify our playfields ,
• f r more intensive use. The pathway would undoubtedly follow the east
boundary of the site to the joining of the Twality site and then be continued
• westward to the parking area.
