The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code
(OMSC) 2010 edition and The Oregon Fire Code 2010 edition •
Ducts exposed to the outside atmosphere shall be protected against corrosion in an
approved manner. 506.2 OMSC
A Performance Test shall be conducted upon completion and before final approval of
the installation of the ventilation system. The performance test shall verify the rate of
airflow to be in compliance with the approved plans. 507.17 OMSC
The exhaust and make -up air system shall be electronically interlocked to ensure that
the make -up air is provided whenever the exhaust system is in operation. 508.1 OMSC
An automatic fire suppression system shall be provided to protect the surface of the
heat - processing appliances and the exhaust system serving the appliances. 509.2

Ductwork shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning •
Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA)
Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without
removal of permanent construction. 306.1 OMSC
Appliances installed on roofs or elevated structures exceeding 16 feet in height shall be
provided with a permanent means of access grade or floor level. 306.5 OMSC
Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an
approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. 307.1 OMSC
Exhaust fan mounting An upblast fan shall be hinged and supplied with a flexible •
weatherproof electrical cable to permit inspection and cleaning. The ductwork shall
extend a minimum of 18 inches (457 mm) above the roof surface. OMSC 506.5.3
Supports Type I hoods shall be secured in place by noncombustible supports. All Type
I and Type II hood supports shall be adequate for the applied load of the hood, the

unsupported ductwork, the effluent loading, and the possible weight of personnel
working in or on the hood. OMSC 507.6
Compensating hoods Manufacturers of compensating hoods shall provide label
indicating minimum exhaust flow and /or maximum makeup airflow that provides capture
and containment of the exhaust effluent. OMSC 508.2 •
• All deep -fat fryers shall be installed with at least a 406 mm (16 in.) space
•
between the fryer and surface flames from adjacent cooking equipment. 12.1.2.4
• Where a steel or tempered glass baffle plate is installed at a minimum 203 mm (8
in.) in height between the fryer and surface flames of the adjacent appliance, the

requirement fora 406 mm (16 in.) space shall not apply. 12.1.2.5
Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp,
•
shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division
inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC
Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new
buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road
fronting the property.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City
of Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
