Cooling performance shall be rated in accordance with AHRI testing procedures. All units shall be factory assembled, internally wired, fully charged with R -410A, and 100 percent run tested to check cooling operation, fan and blower rotation, and control sequence before leaving the factory. Wiring internal to the unit shall be colored and numbered for simplified identification. Units shall be UL listed and labeled, classified in accordance to UL 1995 /CAN /CSA No. 236 -M90 for Central Cooling Air Conditioners. Canadian units shall be CSA Certified. Casing Unit casing shall be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge, and galvanized steel. Exterior surfaces shall be cleaned, phosphatized, and finished with a weather- resistant baked enamel finish. Unit's surface shall be tested 672 hours in a salt spray test in compliance with ASTM 8117. Cabinet construction shall allow for all maintenance on one side of the unit. All exposed vertical panels and top covers in the indoor air section shall be insulated with a cleanable foil- faced, fire - retardant permanent, odorless glass fiber material. All insulation edges shall be either captured or sealed. The unit's base pan shall have no penetrations within the perimeter of the curb other than the raised 1 1/8" high downflow supply /return openings to provide an added water integrity precaution, if the condensate drain backs up. The base of the unit shall have provisions for forklift and crane lifting, with forklift capabilities on three sides of the unit. Unit Top The top cover shall be one piece construction or, where seams exist, it shall be double- hemmed and gasket - sealed. The ribbed top adds extra strength and enhances water removal from unit top. Compressors All units shall have direct - drive, hermetic, scroll type compressors with centrifugal type oil pumps. Motor shall be suction gas - cooled and shall have a voltage utilization range of plus or minus 10 percent of unit nameplate voltage. Internal overloads shall be provided with the scroll compressors. Crankcase heaters shall be included. Indoor Fan All 3 -5 ton 1 -phase units offer shall be direct drive type. All 3 phase ID motors shall be belt drive type with FC fans with adjustable sheaves. All motors shall be thermally protected. All indoor fan motors meet the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT). • Outdoor Fans • • The outdoor fan shall be direct- drive, statically and dynamically balanced, draw- through in the vertical discharge position. The fan motor shall be permanently lubricated and shall have built -in thermal overload protection. Evaporator and Condenser Coils Internally finned, 5/16" copper tubes mechanically bonded to a configured aluminum plate fin shall be standard. Coils shall be leak tested at the factory to ensure the pressure integrity. The evaporator coil and condenser coil shall be leak tested at 600 psig. The assembled unit shall be leak tested to 465 psig. The condenser coil shall have a patent pending 1 +1 +1 hybrid coil designed with slight gaps for ease of cleaning. A removable, reversible, double - sloped condensate drain pan with provision for through the base condensate drain is standard. • Controls Unit shall be completely factory-wired with necessary controls and contactor pressure lugs or terminal block for power wiring. Unit shall provide an external location for mounting a fused disconnect device. A choice of microprocessor or electromechanical controls shall be available. Microprocessor controls provide for volt control functions. The resident control algorithms shall make all heating, cooling, and /or ventilating decisions in response to electronic signals from sensors measuring indoor and outdoor temperatures. The control algorithm maintains accurate temperature control, minimizes drift from set point, and provides better building comfort. A centralized Microprocessor shall provide anti -short cycle timing and time delay between compressors to provide a higher level of machine protection. . An area shall be provided for , — replacement- suction -line- driers. -- • • Gas Heating Section The heating section shall have a progressive tubular heat exchanger design using stainless steel burners and corrosion resistant steel throughout. An induced draft combustion blower shall be used to pull the combustion products through the firing tubes. The heater shall use a direct spark ignition (DS!) system. The operating range shall be between 115 °F and 0 °F in cooling as standard from -- • - -- the- factory_for_units- with - microprocessor_ controls .- Operating_range_for_units_ with_ electromechanical _controls_shall -be_ between 115 °F and 40 °F. Cooling performance shall be rated in accordance with AHRI testing procedures. Microprocessor controls provide for volt control functions. The resident control algorithms shall make all heating, cooling, and /or ventilating decisions in response to electronic signals from sensors measuring indoor and outdoor temperatures. Unit shall be designed in accordance with UL Standard 1995. B. Unit shall be ETL tested and certified. C. Unit casing shall be capable of withstanding Federal Method Standard No. 141 (Method 6061) 500 -hour salt spray. D. The unit shall be ARI 1060 certified. E. Insulation and adhesive shall meet NFPA 90A requirements for flame spread and smoke generation. Part 2 — Product A. ERV's can be sized between 200 — 30,000 cfm. B. The ERV unit shall be a factory assembled, single piece unit. Contained within the unit enclosure shall be all'factory wiring with a single, pre- determined point of power input and a single location to land 24 volt control wiring. • C.. The cabinet shall be constructed .of galvanized steel coated with a prepainted baked enamel finish. D. The cabinet shall be insulated on the tempered side of the ERV with \1" insulation in a double walled compartment. • E. Eye -bolts are provided to facilitate rigging. • F. The exhaust air stream shall have a back draft 'damper to prevent 'air penetration during off • cycles. G. Blowers (on all cabinets but the A size) shall be backward incline direct driven. The direct drive motors are E.C. motors with a built in frequency drive. This high efficiency package is all one piece so there are no belts or pulleys. H. Standard filters (on all cabinets but the A size) are 2" pleated filters. I. The ERV wheel will be in a horizontal position in the unit. J. The unit shall be.microprocessor controlled. K. The operator interface shall consist of a back -lit LCD screen, pushbutton & potentiometer. These are used to adjust airflows and control parameters and display operating airflows and alarms. No belts or pulleys are adjusted to set airflows. • Part 3 — Mating Options . . • • All mating options .should be constructed to prevent short cycling of air from the supply to the exhaust without going through the HVAC system. All mating options will allow for a factory installed economizer to still function with the.ERV. A. Stand alone units (no mating) B. Combination curbs —shall be a single curb designed and built to support both the HVAC unit and the ERV. The transition of the air from the ERV to the HVAC shall be through internal transitions in the curb. These units will only work with vertical return HVAC unit and a down discharge ERV. C. Transitions — are designed specifically to mate a horizontal return HVAC with an ERV. The transition ties into the horizontal return of the HVAC and provides ductwork for the contractor to tie the horizontal return ductwork. The ERV must be a horizontal unit for this configuration D. Drop -in damper boxes — are designed to drop in the vertical return of the HVAC unit. The contractor would have to run a supply and return duct from the drop -in damper box to the ERV. The ERV would be a down discharge configuration for this to work. Part 4- EzERV option • This option provides for the operator to control the unit by airflow (CFM). The unit must be calibrated by an AMCA certified air test flow station to display actual supply and exhaust airflows in CFM using MicroMetl patent pending process. Unit shall be designed in accordance with UL Standard 1995. B. Unit shall be ETL tested and certified. C. Unit casing shall be capable of withstanding Federal Method Standard No. 141 (Method 6061) 500 -hour salt spray. D. The unit shall be ARI 1060 certified. E. Insulation and adhesive shall meet NFPA 90A requirements for flame spread and smoke generation. • Part 2 — Product A. ERV's can be sized between 200 — 30,000 cfm. B. The ERV unit shall be a factory assembled, single piece unit. Contained within the unit enclosure shall be all factory wiring with a single, pre- determined point of power input and a single location to land 24 volt control wiring. C. The cabinet shall be constructed of galvanized steel coated with a prepainted baked enamel finish. D.
