Re: HVAC Support at Therapeutic Associates
16083 SW Upper Boones Ferry Road, Suite 300, Tigard, OR 97224
Steve,
Per your request I met with your superintendent; Viktor, at the site this morning and observed
the (1) new and existing duct heater and mixing boxes suspended from the existing roof
structure, examined the original construction documents and approved shop drawings for the
• building shell.
All in -line duct heating units appear to be adequately supported structurally. The new unit
(Trane Y2C 243_A) weighs 125# and is supported from a 20 ga ASC type 'DGB -36' composite
deck with 4" concrete slab supported by 28 LH joists at 8' o.c.. Per building shell drawings
(sheet S5.1 b) and approved shop drawings the roof structure is capable of supporting a 600#
pt load at any point in addition to fire sprinklers and specified roof top units. The supporting
structure is adequate without modifications.
The new unit is suspended with (8) 1" wide x 20 ga straps with (2) #8 screws to unit and (1)
#8 screw to side of lapped deck flanges 8 x 272# = 2,176# allowed > 125/8 = 16# /
fastener required. Refer to attached table 1 from ER 5280 for limiting shear values of screws:
