The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon fStructural Specialty Code (OSSC) 2004
edition; Oregon Fire Code 2004 edition and NFPA ibmiffed plans are approved subject to
the following.
General requirements

1. Upon completion of the installation, a satisfactory test of the entire system shall be made in the
presence of the building official and fire code official. All functions of the system or alteration
shall be tested. 901 SCand NFPA 72 chapter 10
2. Before requesting final approval of the installation, the installing contractor shall furnish a

written stateme ►t tbfhe fire code official that the subject fire protection system has been
installed inacco�rdance with approved plans and has been tested in accordance with the
manufacturer s specifications and the appropriate installation standard. Any deviations
fro th design standards shall be noted and copies of the approvals for such deviations
shall be attached to the written statement. 901.2.1 OFC
3. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The
circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting means
shall be accessible only to authorized personnel and shall be clearly and permanently
marked FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT CONTROL. NFPA 72 4.4.1.4, 907.5 OFC
4. The emergency voice /alarm communication system shall be designed and installed in
accordance with NFPA 72. 907.2.12.2.3 OFC

5. All power supplies shall be installed in conformity with NFPA 70. NFPA 72, 4.4.1.2
. 6. All primary and secondary power supplies shall be monitored for the presence of voltage
at the point of connection to the system. Failure of either supply shall result in a trouble
signal in accordance with 4.4.3.5. The trouble signal also shall be visually and audibly
indicated at the protected premises. NFPA 72, 4.4.7.3
7. Visual alarm signal appliances shall be integrated into the building or facility alarm
system. At a minimum, visual signal appliances shall be provided in buildings and
facilities in each of the following areas: 1109.14 OSSC
• restrooms and any other general usage areas
• meeting rooms
• classrooms
• hallways, lobbies, and any other area for common use.
8. Visual alarms shall be located not less than 80 inches and not more 96 inches above
floor level. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall in mounted within the
dimensions stated above and at least 6 inches below theceilin . 1109.14 OSSC, NFPA 72, 7.5.4
9. In general, no place in a room or space required hh_ ave a visual signal appliance shall be
more than 50 feet from the signal (in the horizo enplane). In large rooms and spaces
exceeding 100 feet across, without obstructions eet above the finished floor, such as
auditoriums, devices may be placed around meter, spaced a maximum 100 feet

City of Tigard, Cuter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard in
tracking -end processing the documents.
