The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code —
(OMSC) 2002 edition. The following information is required in order to complete the review.
1. Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval,
in accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufacturer's installation
instructions and this code. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available
on the job site at the time of inspection. OMSC 304.1
2. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater
than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall shut down the air distribution
system. Smoke detectors shall be connected to a fire alarm system and shall activate an
audible and visible alarm at a constantly attended location. OMSC 606.
3. The building or structure shall not be weakened by the installation of mechanical systems.
Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required
to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building
or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the Building
Code. The cutting, notching and boring of framing members shall comply with OMSC
302 Sections 302.3.1 through 302.5.3.
4. Equipment and appliances regulated by this code requiring electrical connections shall
have a positive means of disconnect in accordance with the Electrical Code. OMSC 301.7

5. Appliances serving different areas of a building other than where they are installed shall
be permanently marked in an approved manner that uniquely identifies the appliance and
• the area it serves. OMSC 304.10
6. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without
removal of permanent construction. OMSC 306.1
7. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an
approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. OMSC 307.1
8. Ductwork shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning
Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA)
Mercury Thermostats. The State of Oregon prohibits the installation of thermostats that
contain mercury in commercial and residential buildings. "In accordance with ORS 455.355,
the disposal of thermostats that contain mercury shall be in accordance with programs
established by thermostat manufacturers, their representative or distributor, or by delivery to
sites that will ensure that the mercury does not become part of the solid waste stream or
wastewater."
Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall
be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors
throughout all phases of construction. OSSC 106.4.2
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
