The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. TESTING - Section 16.2.1 Hydrostatic testing of the system shall occur at sprinkler final. The contractor's material and test certificate required by NFPA 13, 16.1 shall be completed and signed by both the installer and building owner. 1. Unless permitted by 16.2.1.2 through 16.2.1.6, all piping and attached appurtenances subjected to system working pressure shall be hydrostatically tested at 200 psi (13.8 bar) and shall maintain that pressure without loss for 2 hours. Loss shall be determined by a drop in gauge pressure or visual leakage. The test pressure shall be read from a gauge located at the low elevation point of the system or portion being tested. WATERFLOWALARMS: - Section 6.9.1 2. Water flow alarm apparatus shall be listed for the service and so constructed and installed that any flow of water from a sprinkler system equal to or greater than that from a single automatic sprinkler of the smallest orifice size installed on the system will result in an audible alarm on the premises within 5 minutes after such flow begins and until such flow,stops. SPRINKLER SYSTEM MONITORING: OSSC 901.6. - NFPA 13 sec 8.16 3. All valves controlling the water supply for automatic sprinkler systems and water -flow switches on all sprinkler systems shall be electrically monitored where the number of sprinklers are more than 20. The maximum distance between hangers for listed nonmetallic pipe shall be modified as specified in the individual product listings. SWAY BRACING: - Section 9.3.5 - 9.3.5.8 6. The system piping shall be braced to resist both lateral and longitudinal horizontal seismic loads and to prevent vertical motion resulting from seismic loads. The structural components to which bracing is attached shall be determined to be capable of carrying the added applied seismic loads. Sway braces shall be designed to withstand forces in tension and compression. Bracing shall be attached directly to feed and cross mains. • RESTRAINT OF BRANCH LINES. - Section 9.3.6 7. Restraint is considered a lesser degree of resisting loads than bracing and shall be provided by use of one of the following: (1) A listed sway brace assembly (2) A wraparound U -hook satisfying the requirements of 6- 4.5.3, Exception Number 3 (3) No. 12, 440 -lb (200 -kg) wire installed at least 45 degrees from the vertical plane and anchored on both sides of the pipe (4) Other approved means wire used for restraint shall be located within 2 ft (610 mm) of a hanger. The hanger closest to a wire restraint shall be of a type that resists upward movement of a branch line. The end sprinkler on a line shall be restrained against excessive vertical and lateral movement. Where upward or lateral movement would result in an impact against the building structure, equipment, or finish materials, branch lines shall be restrained at intervals not exceeding 30 ft (9 m) PIPING CLEARANCE :: - Section 9.3.4 8. Where pipe passes through holes in platforms, foundations, walls, or floors, the holes shall be sized such that the diameter of the holes is 2 in. (50 mm) larger than the pipe for 1 in. (25 mm) nominal to 31/2 in. (89 mm) nominal and 4 in. (100 mm) larger than the pipe for pipe 4 in. (100 mm) nominal and larger. Clearance from structural members not penetrated or used, collectively or independently, to support the piping shall be at least 2 in. SPARE SPRINKLERS: - Section 6.2.9 9. The stock of spare sprinklers shall include all types and ratings installed and shall be as follows: a. For systems having less than 300 sprinklers, not fewer than six sprinklers Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.3.1 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard in tracking and processing the documents. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following conditions. 1. All exit doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort Sec. 1008.1.8 2. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs in cases where the exit or the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Sec. 1011.1. OSSC 3. Floor drains shall not be located within the clear floor space at a lavatory, water closet, urinal, or bathtub or shower. Floors shall not slope in excess of 1 unit vertical in 50 units horizontal (2- percent slope). Floor drains shall comply with Section 1109.4.5 and be without abrupt changes of level. Exception: Floor drains may be located within a clear floor space at a frxtrrn' provided the openings in the drain cover shall not exceed %2 inch (12.7 mm) in any direction and the drain cover shall be no more than 1 / 8 inch below the level of the ssn vund&ngfinished floor surface. 1109.10.1 OSSC 4. Safety glazing including but not limited to: the following locations: Each unit of glazing shall be permanently identified by the manufacturer. Sec. 2406. Some of these locations are as follows: a. Glazing in ingress and means of egress doors. b. Deferred submittals such as Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler, Truss Joist Shop Drawings, etc, will be charged a deferred submittal fee based on the valuation of the portion of the work being deferred. The minimum fee shall be $200.00. Deferred Items: Sprinkler system Fire alarm system NOT PART OF THIS REVIEW: • Fire Sprinklers • Fire Alarm • Mechanical System • Plumbing • Electrical American with Disabilities Act (ADA): It shall be the responsibility of the Architect, Engineer, Designer, Contractor, Owner and Lessee to research the applicability of the ADA requirements for the structure. The City of Tigard reviews the plans and inspects the structure only for compliance with Chapter 11 of the OSSC, which may not include all of the requirements of the ADA. Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. Combustible materials shall be permitted in buildings of Type I or II construction in the following applications and in accordance with Sections 603.1.1 through 603.1.3: 1. Fire - retardant - treated wood shall be permitted in: 1.1. Nonbearing partitions where the required fire - resistance rating is 2 hours or less. 1.2. Nonbearing exterior walls where no fire rating is required. 1.3. Roof construction as permitted in Table 601, Note c, Item 3. 2. Thermal and acoustical insulation, other than foam plastics, having a flame spread index of not more than 25. Exceptions: 1. Insulation placed between two layers of noncombustible materials without an intervening airspace shall be allowed to have a flame spread index of not more than 100. • 2. Insulation installed between a finished floor and solid decking without intervening airspace shall be allowed to have a flame spread index of not more than 200. 3. Foam plastics in accordance with Chapter 26. 4. Roof coverings that have an A, B or C classification. 5. Interior floor finish and interior finish, trim and millwork such as doors, door frames, window sashes and frames. 6. Where not installed over 15 feet (4572 mm) above grade, show windows, nailing or furring strips, wooden bulkheads below show windows, their frames, aprons and show cases. 7. Finished flooring applied directly to the floor slab or to wood sleepers that are fire stopped in accordance with Section 717.2.7. 8. Partitions dividing portions of stores, offices or similar places occupied by one tenant only and which do not establish a corridor serving an occupant load of 30 or more shall be permitted to be constructed of fire- retardant - treated wood, 1 -hour fire- resistance -rated construction or of wood panels or similar light construction up to 6 feet (1829 mm) in height. 9. Platforms as permitted in Section 410. 10. Combustible exterior wall coverings, balconies, bay or oriel windows, or similar appendages in accordance with Chapter 14. 11. Blocking such as for handrails, millwork, cabinets, and window and door frames. 12. Light - transmitting plastics as permitted by Chapter 26. 13. Mastics and caulking materials applied to provide flexible seals between components of exterior wall construction. 14. Exterior plastic veneer installed in accordance with Section 2605.2. 15. Nailing or furring strips as permitted by Section 803.3. 16. Heavy timber as permitted by Note c, Item 2, to Table 601 and Sections 602.4.7 and 1406.3. 17. Aggregates, component materials and admixtures as permitted by Section 703.2.2. 18. Sprayed cementitious and mineral fiber fire- resistance -rated materials installed to comply with Section 1704.11. 19. Materials used to protect penetrations in fire- resistance -rated assemblies in accordance with Section 712. 20. Materials used to protect joints in fire- resistance -rated assemblies in accordance with Section 713. 21. Materials allowed in the concealed spaces of buildings of Type I and II with Section 717.5. 22. Materials exposed within plenums complying with Section 602 of the OMSC. 603.1.1 Ducts. The use of nonmetallic ducts shall be permitted when installed in accordance with the limitations of the OMSC. 603.1.2 Piping. The use of combustible piping materials shall be permitted when installed in accordance with the limitations of the OMSC and the OPSC. 603.1.3 Electrical. The use of electrical wiring methods with combustible insulation, tubing, raceways and related components shall be permitted when installed in accordance with the limitations of the OESC.
