Dear Mr. Murphy,
On June 11, 2012, Bear Electric Inc. submitted an electrical permit application for service panel
upgrade for the installation of solar panels, permit number ELC2012- 00361. On August 13,
2012, you signed and submitted a new electrical permit application to replace Bear Electric Inc.
with a new contractor, Eagle Electric LLC.
The building permit application for the solar panel installation was originally submitted by
LiveLight Energy on May 24, 2012, permit number MST2012- 00111. On August 13, 2012, you
submitted a request to change the building contractor to Sunlight Solar Energy as the original
contractor "went out of business ".
It was acceptable to change the contractor on the building permit as you paid the original permit
fees. For the electrical permit, this should not have been permitted as the original electrical
contractor, Bear Electric Inc. paid the permit fees for the electrical permit and now they are
asking for a refund as they were not the contractor who completed the work.
Unfortunately, there was an oversight by city staff and they did not notice that the original
electrical contractor paid the fees. In these instances, the city would have required that the new
electrical contractor take out a new permit and we the original permit would have been voided.
As a result of this error, we have enclosed an invoice for the fees due for the electrical permit and
ask that you submit these at your earliest convenience so that we may refund the portion paid by
Bear Electric Inc.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. I have enclosed
