The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code
(OMSC) 2002 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following.
1. Ductwork shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning
Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA)
2. Equipment and appliances regulated by this code requiring electrical connections
shall have a positive means of disconnect in accordance with the Electrical Code.

3. Appliances serving different areas of a building other than where they are installed
shall be permanently marked in an approved manner that uniquely identifies the
appliance and the area it serves. 304.10 OMSC
4. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without
removal of permanent construction. 306.1 OMSC
5. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the jobsite at the time of
inspection. 304.1 OMSC
6. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an
approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. 307.1 OMSC

7. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater
than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall shut down the air `
distribution system. OMSC 606.2
9. Fire and smoke dampers shall be provided with an approved means of access, large
enough to permit inspection and maintenance of the damper and its operating parts.
The access shall not affect the integrity of fire - resistance -rated assemblies. The access
openings shall not reduce the fire - resistance rating of the assembly. Access points
shall be permanently identified on the exterior by a label having letters not less than
0.5 inch in height reading: SMOKE DAMPER or FIRE DAMPER. Access doors in
ducts shall be tight fitting and suitable for the required duct construction.

11. Guards shall be provided where appliances are located within 10 feet of the roof edge
or open side of a walking surface and such edge or open side is located more than 30
inches above the floor, roof or grade below. The guard shall be 42 inches above the
elevated surface with an intermediate rail so as not to allow the passage of a sphere,
21 inches in diameter. 304.9
13. Steam piping is regulated according to and under the jurisdiction of the Oregon Boiler
and Pressure Vessel Law and related administrative rules and the jurisdiction of
Oregon Building Codes Division, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Program. Water piping
for hot -water heating systems and hydronics shall be installed according to Ch. 12.

Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall
be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors
throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC
Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new
buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road
fronting the property.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
