Dear Jim,
We have addressed the items in your letter and this is a summary review.
Accessi 'Iity
. The budget of 106,000.00 dollars for this renovation includes 25%
or 26,500.00 dollars for ADA upgrades. We are revamping the toilet
rooms, we are changing all door hardware to levers, and we are
rebuilding the lunch room counter to meet ADA requirements. These
costs are in excess of the 26,500.00 and therefore we did not correct
the clearances for door 110.
Fire and Life Safety
4 _ 1 7 . All relights shall use tempered glass' per the requirements of 5406 (d) 3.
2. Electrical plans that have been submitted show the require•
� / illumination for this space.

Fire extinguishers will be provided per the code in locations agreed by
the fire inspector prior to occupancy.
Mechanical
1. The mechanical contractor has submitted plans for this renovation with
the required application.

The plans and specifications have been reviewed for conformity to
applicable codes. Please submit three (3) sets of revised plans
and specifications incorporating the following requirements:
Accessibility
Doors accessible for persons with disabilities shall have an
18" w}}de maneuvering space adjacent to the latch side of the
pit.., do r./[Section 3109 (1) 3, Table 31E and Figure 25] . Doors
is& �ing closer and a latch shall have a latch side approach of
lh� 41J 18" on the pull side and 12" on the push side for a front
approach [Section 3109(1 -3) and Table 31F]. Provide

Fire and Life Safety
G(/ Glazing, in fixed or operable panels adjacent to a door where
the nearest exposed edge of the glazing is within a 24" arc of
either vertical edge of the door in a closed position and
where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60"
above the walking surface, shall be tempered [5406(d)3].
Provide specifications for all relites.
2. Provide exit illumination having an intensity of not less than
1 foot candle at floor level, and provide a separate power
source, such as an on -site generator or storage batteries to
operate the lighting system in the exiting system [Section
3313 (a) (b)] .
Provide Type 2 -A fire extinguishers throughout so that the
travel distance to a unit does not exceed 75 feet
[NFPA 10 3.2.1] .
