Dear Applicant:
Your plans for the proposed project have been reviewed for compliance; the following
items require your attention:
1. The ramp footings shall be designed as permanent foundations. Provide footings
12" X 18" deep, using Simpson EPB44A elevated post bases. Provide details.
2. Provide a slip resistant surface for the ramp and deck, as well as the stair risers.
Provide details. OSSC, Sections 1109.7.9
3. No open risers are allowed on required accessible stairs. Nosings shall be flush
and rounded to a radius of 'A ", and shall not project more than 1 Y2 ". Provide
details. OSSC, Section 1109.8.3 and 1109.8.4
4. Stairway handrails are required on both sides of the stairs, and shall extend 12"
beyond the top and bottom. The clear space between the handrails and wall shall
be 1 Y2". Gripping surfaces shall be uninterrupted by Newell posts, other
construction elements or obstructions. The top of the handrail - gripping surface
shall be mounted between 34" and 38" above stair nosings. Ends of handrails
shall be returned to the floor, wall or post. Provide details. OSSC 1109.8.6
