John,
I am assisting the Muslim Education Trust in obtaining their building
permits from the City of Tigard to locate three modular buildings on the
site for class rooms. In speaking with City staff they indicated that I
needed to contact you about fire suppression. Specifically, the nearest
hydrant is located on the north side of Scholl's Ferry Road and not on
this side of the street. The trailers are phase one of a larger
expansion. Phase two entails removing the trailers, demolishing the
existing structure and constructing a new school. Phase two would also
involve completing utility improvements and installing hydrants,
extending water, sewer, etc. Fund raising for phase two of the project
is ongoing. Anyway, at Mark Vandomelen's direction I am proposing to
you that the trailers be fitted and served by ADT to provide an early
detection /warning system in addition to meeting all applicable fire,
life, and safety codes in the interim between phases 1 and 2 so that MET
can place their classrooms on site. To that end, I have attached the
proposal from Don Ankrom at ADT that would be executed once we have your
approval. I am also providing you with a copy of the site plan that was
submitted to the City last month for approvals.
Please call me if you have any questions.
