Issued: 7/23/97 GENERAL: The Participant and Manufacturer have agreed to produce, test, and label ETL Classified products in accordance with the requirements of this procedural guide. The manufacturer has also agreed to notify ETL and to request authorization prior to using alternate parts, components, or materials. COMPONENTS: • Components used shall be those listed in the ETL reports covering the products specified in the index including any amendments and /or revisions. CLASSIFICATION MARK: The ETL Classification mark applied to the products shall either be separable in form, such as labels purchased from ETL, or on a product nameplate or other media only as specifically authorized by ETL. Use of the Classification mark is subject to the control of ETL. MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION TESTS: Manufacturing and Production Tests shall be performed as required in this procedural guide. FOLLOW -UP SERVICE: Periodic unannounced audits of the manufacturing facility shall be scheduled by ETL. An audit report shall be issued after each visit. Special attention will be given to the following: 1. Conformance of the manufactured product to the description in this manual. 2. Conformance of the use of the ETL label with the requirements of this procedural guide and the Classification, Labeling, and Follow -up Service Agreement. 3. GROUNDING CONTINUITY TEST: Method Each product listed below shall be subjected to a test to determine that there is continuity between accessible dead metal parts of the product and the grounding pin of the attachment plug, or the ground lead of the pigtail. If all accessible dead metal is connected together, only a single test need be performed. A visual or audible device (ohmmeter, buzzer, etc.) may be used to indicate grounding continuity. The paint spray booth is intended to be used with a Listed, natural gas or propane heating /air handling unit, or a Listed air handling unit without heat. The product is provided with a Listed Industrial Control Panel, and Listed light fixtures for use in Class I or (Class II), Division 2, hazardous locations. The paint spray booth is fully automated and is equipped with an energy saving recycle setting that shuts down the spray equipment during this the recycle mode of operation. The booth is permanently connected to the supply source. The air make up heater (when used) pre- conditions the air to a maximum of 120 °F and is connected through permanently installed ducts. ELECTRICAL RATING: The units are rated: Motor Circuit: 208/230/460 VAC, 69.3/63/31.5 FLA, maximum 46.2/42/21 FLA largest motor, 50/60 Hz, 3 Ph. Lighting circuit: 120/277 VAC, 40/20 Amp, 60 Hz, 1 Ph. GENERAL: Construction Details - For specific construction details, reference should be r made to the following photographs and descriptions. All dimensions are approximate unless otherwise specified. In addition to the specific construction details described in the photographs, the following general requirements also apply. 1. Spacings - The following spacings are maintained through air and over surfaces of insulating material between current carrying parts of opposite polarity, and between current carrying parts and dead metal parts. Mechanical Assembly - Components such as switches, fuseholders, connectors, wiring terminals, and display lamps are reliably mounted and prevented from shifting or rotating by lockwashers, starwashers, use of multiple screws or bolts. 3. Corrosion Protection - All ferrous metal parts are suitably protected against corrosion by painting, plating or the equivalent. 4. Internal Wiring - Internal wiring to the light fixtures in the paint mixing room is per the NEC, junction boxes are provided for connection to the electrical panel in the field. All wiring is Listed or Component AWM, style 1316, minimum 16 AWG, rated 600 volts, 90 °C. Wiring within the room or within 3 feet of the doors is sealed and complies with the requirements of Class I, Division 2 locations. 5. Grounding - All exposed dead metal parts and all dead metal parts within the enclosure that are exposed to contact during any servicing operation and that are likely to become energized are reliably connected to the grounding terminal in the field wiring box. 6. Accessibility of Live Parts - All uninsulated live parts in primary circuitry, or moving parts, are housed within metal enclosures and are adequately protected. 7. Overload Protection - All motors are protected by overload protective devices located in the electrical panel in the field. All lighting is protected by overcurrent protective devices located in the electrical panel in the field. 8. Installation and Operating Instructions - Instructions for the proper installation and use of this product are provided by the manufacturer. These instructions specify the proper locations where the authorized air make up unite can be installed in order to maintain sufficient air flow through the spray booth; or instructions to provide adequate air supply into building when units are supplied without air make up. The following items are included in the installation and operation instructions: a) Installation checklist - refer to page I1. b) Reference to NFPA 70, NFPA 33 and NFPA 101. c) Instructions for installation of fire extinguishing systems. d) Instructions for the proper placement of electrical components including spacing of a minimum of 5 feet from open face and 3 feet from any hazardous locations. e) Installation provided with Listed light fixtures for use in hazardous locations to be accessed for the inside. f) Location for installation, maintenance labels and unit nameplate. g) Requirements for the location of the paint spray booth with respect to non -fire rated walls and ordinary location electrical components. h) Instructions for separation from other occupancies: 3 foot distance or 1 hour fire wall. i) Routing of exhaust ducts. j) Instructions for source of supply air. k) Operations and maintenance responsibilities of the user. 1) Training requirements of user for all personnel involved in the spray application process. Interlocks - An air actuated electric switch de- energizes the spray air solenoid: 1) the booth is placed in the recirculation mode, 2) If the blowers of the air handling unit are disengaged, 3) If airflow through the exhaust duct is not proven by the airflow proving switch such as in the case of a blower failure. 15. Operation - The following operation features are incorporated into the design when operated with the authorized air makeup systems: a) Spray Mode - When the unit is placed in spray mode both the intake and exhaust motors are functioning and the dampers are positioned so that 100 percent of the intake air is drawn from outside the building and exhausted to the outside of the building and the gas fired heater (if provided) is disengaged. When the booth is placed in this mode the spray air solenoid is energized. b) Recirculation Mode - When the unit is placed in recirculation mode the exhaust blower disengages the dampers are positioned so that 100 percent of the ventilation air is recirculated through the unit.
