To Whom It May Concern,
In the process of having various GAF Materials Corporation shingles
approved for use In Dade County Florida, Dade County tested specific shingles with
110 miles per hour laboratory winds for two hours. The following shingles were
tested and passed by Dade County:
ROYAL SOVEREIGN®
MARQUIS® WEATHER MAXI
TIMBERLINE ®ULTRA
COUNTRY MANSIONm
Although Dade County has tasted and approved these shingles for use in
Dade County, GAF Materials Corporation does not recognize the test method used
as representing real world wind events and limits its wind resistance liabilities per
its product specific warranties:

Mingles at laboratory wind speeds greater than 90 mph for 2 hours and
passed. Our Grand Sequoias and Country Mansions shingles were not being made
at the time of the UL testing. As a result, UL has not tasted them at the higher wind
speeds. Given the heavier construction of these shingles, however, Gratd.$egtioie®
and Country Mansion® can be readily expected to pass this same t ese ':..
same wind speeds.
As with the testing done by Dade County, although UL has tested fl re;;T
shingles and found then to successfully pass their test, GAF Materials Corporation
does not recognize the test method used as representing real world wind events
and limits its wind resistance liabilities per its prudurx specific warranties.
