These beams are supported off the existing concrete exterior walls and new tube steel columns at the interior. Lateral bracing is taken care of by the connection to the existing and angle braces at the interior. GENERAL 1. These notes set minimum standards for construction. The Drawings govern over the general notes to the extent shown. 2. Contractor shall verify all dimensions and conditions on Drawings and in field. Coordinate locations of openings through floors, roofs and walls with architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings. Notify VLMK Consulting Engineers (VLMK) of any discrepancies or if actual conditions differ from those shown or noted. 3. Contractor shall provide all necessary temporary support prior to completion of vertical and lateral load systems. VLMK has not been retained to provide any services related to job site safety precautions, or to review the means, methods, techniques, sequences, or procedures for the contractor to perform work. Unless we are specifically retained and compensated to do otherwise, our work is limited to the design of work described on our Drawings for this project. 4. Where reference is made to ASTM, AISC, ACI or other standards the latest issue shall apply. 5. Inspection and/or job supervision is not provided by VLMK. 6. All work shall be in strict compliance with the latest edition of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) as amended by the State of Oregon and all other state and local building requirements that apply. 7. These Drawings have been prepared solely for use in the construction of the AIR TOUCH TENENT IMPROVEMENT project located in PORTLAND, OREGON. Possession of these Drawings does not grant a license to construct or fabricate the whole, or parts of this project in other locations. CODES 1997 Uniform Building Code DESIGN LOADS Partition dead weight at 54 pounds per foot plus the self weight of the Supporting beam. DESIGN CRITERIA Limit supporting beam deflection to 1/4 inch per folding partition manufacturer. STRUCTURAL STEEL Structural shapes ASTM GR50 Fy = 50 ksi Plates ASTM A36 F = 36 ksi Structural tubes ASTM A500 Gr.B F = 46 ksi Structural bolts ASTM A325 F = 44 ksi Anchor bolts ASTM A307 & ASTM A325 Ft = 20 ksi STRUCTURAL FASTENERS All drilled expansion anchors installed in concrete to be one of the following: "Red Head Trubolt Wedge Anchor" by ITW/Ramset (I.C.B.O. #1372); "Power Stud" by Powers Rawl (I.C.B.O. #5225); or "Kwik Bolt II" by Hilti, Inc. (I.C.B.O. #4627). Other drilled expansion anchors are acceptable only with prior written approval of Engineer. Install all anchors per manufacturer's instructions. Provide minimum embedment and spacing unless otherwise noted on Drawings.
