Site Work: 1. A geotechnical report is being provided by Geotechnical Resources, Inc., see attached. 2. This item was discussed by you and Jack Medak and it is our understanding that it has been resolved. 3. The required fire flow test is being provided by the mechanical engineer. 4. A building survey and plans have been provided to the fire department. Energy Code: 1. The energy compliance forms are being completed by the mechanical engineer. Fire and Life Safety: 1. A draft stop has been added per OSSC Section 708.3.1.2.2. See revised drawing Sheets 2 of 4 and S2 of 2. • Medak Office Building • Project Number: 99020 . Permit Number: 99 -00324 August 16, 1999 Page 2 2. Additional ventilation of the attic has been provided. See revised Sheet S2. Structural: 1. The 3 1/8 x 12 glu -lam at the ridge is not required. This condition was revised to a ridge board condition. 2. Per our discussion with you, truss drawings and calculations will be provided prior to construction of the roof and will be reviewed by our office.. • 3. Drawing S2 is revised to show the correct edge nailing. 4. Detail 3/S2 has been added to Sheet S2. Regarding the 1/2" plywood nailed to the bottom chord of the trusses, this was revised to blocking panels between the trusses per Detail 6/S1. Also, the CMSTI14 strap is shown on Sheet S2 per.Keynote 3 and on Detail 6/S 1. Erosion Control: 1. Permit is to be provided by the civil. engineer. (GRI) has reviewed the potential for seismically induced liquefaction of the soils beneath the above - referenced site. The purpose of this review is to meet the intent of the City of Tigard Building Department's Building plan review process. Based on a review of the available geologic information, we anticipate the site is mantled with soil of the Willamette Silt Formation, which is underlain at relatively shallow depth by Columbia River Basalt. We anticipate the groundwater level at this site will be found at depths that range from 10 to 15 R We also anticipate the groundwater will approach the ground surface during periods of extended precipitation. The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) produced a map entitled, "Relative Earthquake Hazard Map of the Portland Metro Region, Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties, 1997." A review of this map indicates that the risk of liquefaction is considered high, with a total of 20 ft most susceptible to liquefaction. Assuming a conservative value of liquefaction- induced volumetric strain of 3 %, the resulting liquefaction-induced total settlement would be on the order of 0.6 ft. In our opinion, differential settlement could approach half the total settlement_ We anticipate the majority of these settlements will occur after the end of strong shaking, allowing ample time for occupants to exit the structure. We recommend that you review these findings with your structural engineer This review is based entirely on work performed by others on nearby sites. It was the intent of this review to provide a sense of magnitude of the probable liquefaction - induced settlement Significant limitations are inherent in a study of this type and additional investigations must be conducted if a better understanding of the associated risk is desired.
