LOG/FCINET ®/HARD -WIRE O
INSTRUMENTS FIRE ALARM CONTROL
DESCRIPTION
The Fire Control Instruments 7200 Series Ana -
log/FCINET ®/Hardwire Fire Alarm Control is multiproc-
essor-based and designed for commercial, industrial, ■iaoonte n oNl p
co
proprietary, central station and institutional fire alarm ap-
plications. The 7200 Series may be configured as an Ana-
log/Addressable, point identified system where individual
identification of initiating devices and control points are t
required, a conventional hard- wired, zone - identified sys- . ` - -- -
tem, or combination of both. It meets the requirements of o
NFPA Standard 72, and is suitable for releasing device
service. - _
The 7200 Series is field programmable to perform an
unusually wide variety of functions. Inherently power lim- - ,
ited, it can accommodate 15 units of one type with a =
maximum total combination of 30 units. Units are avail-
able in a wide range of configurations (Class A or Class B)
for initiating device, signaling line, or notification appli-
ance circuits.
Designed around multiprocessors that provide and con-
trol all system functions, the 7200 Series has a powerful
software structure that affords true "distributed process- -
ing" of all system components. The system can accommo-
date module placement at either a central location, or at up -
to fifteen (15) remote locations via the FCINET® commu- FEATURES
nications to provide multiplex system features. • FCINET® (FCI Communication Network)

be programmed by either front panel switches or via r
a uniquely "User Friendly" computer program. Bot
forms of storage are non - volatile. Internal memory
for the system is provided by RAM (Random Access ' x

The System Control Unit (SCU) mounts in the top position in the cabinet. It contains the system processor, system
operating software and the system configuration memory to coordinate "distributive processmg" of all system opera-
tions. The SCU functions as the system information and control center, processing all messages from any cable
connected unit, including two degrade alarm (ADAC') modes to ensure system survivability.
The System Control Unit also provides two (2) notification appliance circuits, remote city outputs (city box or line
reversal), and alarm and trouble actuated relay contacts.
Pluggable terminal strips are provided with the SCU for the connection of all field wiring. These strips will
accommodate wire sizes up to 12 AWG.
The SCU occupies one and one half -unit size panel space.
The SCU also includes a Programming/Diagnostic Center with a two- character 7- segment digital display providing .
system operation, programming and internal trouble shooting features.
Along with the Programming/Diagnostic Center, three front panel user switches are provided for system
"RESET/LAMP TEST", "SILENCE ", and "ACKNOWLEDGE ".
Additional switches include "PROGRAMMING ", and "NORMAL/OFF" switches for "MUNICIPAL" circuits,
control of "NOTIFICATION (CIRCUIT) 1" and "NOTIFICATION (CIRCUIT) 2 ".

DESCRIPTION
The Quad Zone Unit (QZU) provides the 7200 Series Fire Alarm Control Panel with four (4) Class A, Style D
or Class B, Style B conventional hard -wired zone initiating circuits. Each circuit is field programmable for
waterflow detection/supervisory monitoring on a common multi-level detection circuit. Each circuit also provides
verification capability for two -wire smoke detectors.
The Eight Zone Unit (EZU) is similar to the Quad Zone Unit (QZU), except it provides eight (8) Class B, Style
B conventional zone initiating circuits. Class A, Style D wiring return connections are made to the optional Eight
Zone Daughter Board (EZD) which contains end of line devices and is mounted between the backboard and its
associated EZU.
The QZU initiating circuits each contain a red "ALARM" LED and a yellow `TROUBLE" LED, along with a
supervised, power limited LED annunciator output for each zone. The EZU likewise contains "ALARM" and
"TROUBLE" LED's, while supervised power limited annunciator output from the EZU circuits is available via an
associated Eight Zone Daughter board (EZD), or Eight Zone Annunciator board (EZA). The EZA does not contain
Class A circuitry.
Each initiating circuit also incorporates a zone "DISCONNECT' user switch, for individual initiating circuit
control and programming functions.
The QZU and EZU will accommodate FCI SBS, 301, CPD, and PSD series two -wire smoke detectors. See the
7200 Series Installation/Operating Manual P/N 9000 -0176 for a list of FCI approved, compatible, UL Listed
two -wire smoke detectors and the quantities that can be accommodated per circuit.
Pluggable terminal blocks are provided with each unit for the connection of field wiring. These blocks will
accommodate wire sizes up to 12 AWG.
The QZU and EZU each occupy a full-unit size space in the cabinet, and mount in any available module position
below the SCU System Control Unit.
