Re: Nelsen : Complete Auto Care Permit
Dear Gary:
Per our phone • • versations, I am faxing a letter from Mike Gray and Paul Krasausk,
owners of Nel : = 's Complete Auto Care. Hopefully, their letter addresses your concerns
about the new orage area. Nelsen's is most definitely moving away from tire sales and
into a more oral, across the board, vehicle maintenance service business.
One of the pri ary functions of the new wall is simply to create a noise barrier between
the office and ' e various maintenance activities.
Given this inf• ation, we would hope that an over the counter permit can be issued.
Sincerely,
•
Gene Didce • •f

To City of Tigard
' New area for Nelsen's
• Sirs;
As ' ur business has grown, we have found that an increasing percentage of our
sal has been automotive service and repair related and a decreasing percentage
has • - a tires. With the increased competition fir tires sales in what had already
slim markup market, we have decided to focus our efforts on service and
r r and to decrease our tire sales. Since we acquired the business in 1998 our
tire ventory has decreased from over 400 tires to less than 100 tires today. Our
p - are to die that to around 50.
WI. this transition we have been using "Complete Auto Care" with the Nelsen's
as opposed to "Tire & Automotive". Jt has taken several yens for our
exi . , . _ customer base to adjust to the fact that we are not just a tire store.
Wi increased service and repair we have found the need for increased space for
scry • and storage of service related inventory, including filters, spark plugs,
b shoes and pads, electronic modules and control devices, shocks. struts, and
related items. Engine oil, coolant, and transmission oil, and waste oil and
r -
■ . coolant are currently stored in our main service bay area and are housed
in st ' drums or tanks. We plan to continue storage of these items in the same
A • rye of the floor space used for tire storage has opened up an area that
coal * be used for this purpose. We would like to install a new service bay door,
mov - back the wall of our present office, improve the rest room facility to
i ' « . ; ADA standards, and construct a sound wall between our current front
co • ' r and customer waiting area, and the new storage area and existing service
bay : _ . This would allow for a much better usage of our store area and allow for
con ued growth of our business.
