Dear Mr. Poskin:
This letter is in response to your letter of conformance dated March 3 to Trans World
Consortium, Inc., regarding the above- referenced site plan. We believe that our
proposed equipment shelter, loc ted approximately from a fire hydrant on
the opposlteside of Hwy, should be exempted from the requirements- of -UFC
cSrec. 903 4.2.1 based. on the following factors: -
• The proposed site is not a commercial building, but an unmanned 12 x 20 ft.
equipment shelter approved by the State of Oregon.
• The shelter will be one -hour rated wall construction. Fusible -link fire - dampers wiHl
a v( - Installed at any penetrations /openings that are required by code. The entry
Q . port will be protected with fire retardant pillows, if this opening is required to be
rated.
• The equipment and shelter are protected with a 24 -hour alarm system which
reports smoke and high temperature conditions to both our dispatch center and
our local switching office. The alarm system is tied into the emergency backup
power system so that we receive notification within seconds of any failure even if
commercial power has been interrupted.
• A smoke detector alarm will automatically shutdown commercial power to the
site, causing the HVAC units to stop work ing, and thereby greatly reducing the
airflow within the shelter.
• Technicians are on call around the clock for immediate dispatch when any
crucial alarm is received. An urban site, such as the one we are proposing,
could have a technician on site within minutes to correct or report an emergency_
