MEC2006 -00511 Construction Type: III -B Tenant Name: Pacific Northwest Property Occupancy Type: B Address: 11740 SW 68 Ave. Occupant Load: 336 Area: 33,574 sq ft Stories: 2 The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code (OMSC) 2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. 1. Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval, in accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufacturer's installation instructions and this code. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the job site at the time of inspection. OMSC 304.1 2. The building or structure shall not be weakened by the installation of mechanical systems. Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the Building Code. The cutting, notching and boring of framing members shall comply with OMSC 302 Sections 302.3.1 through 302.5.3. 3. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall shut down the air distribution system. Smoke detectors shall be connected to a fire alarm system and shall activate an audible and visible alarm at a constantly attended location. OMSC 606. 4. Equipment and appliances regulated by this code requiring electrical connections shall have a positive means of disconnect in accordance with the Electrical Code. OMSC 301.7 5. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without removal of permanent construction. Ducts shall be supported with approved hangers at intervals not exceeding 10 feet or by other approved duct support systems designed in accordance with the Building Code. Flexible and other factory -made ducts • shall be supported in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. OMSC 603.10 7. Metallic Ducts shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA) — Metal and Flexible. OMSC 603.4 8. Every refrigerant system that shall be tested and proved tight after complete installation, and before operation. Tests shall include both the high - and low- pressure sides of each system at not less than the lower of the design pressures or the setting of the pressure relief device(s). The design pressures for testing shall be those listed on the condensing unit, compressor or compressor unit name - plate, as required by ASHRAE 15. OMSC 1108.1 9. A person engaged in the brazing or welding of refrigeration piping shall have a valid certification meeting the requirements in OAR 918 - 440 -0015. For refrigeration piping regulated by the State of Oregon Boiler and Pressure Vessel Program, see requirements listed in OAR 918 - 225 -0310. All three of these administrative rules were effective July 1, 2001. 10. OAR 918 - 225 -0310 Refrigerant Piping Systems; Components (1) The requirements of OAR 918 -225- 0430(5) shall be enforced under this rule for all refrigerant piping systems consisting of welded, brazed or mechanically assembled piping and piping fittings exceeding 2 inches NPS, and containing any refrigerant chemical rated as other than A -1 or B-1 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE 34) as adopted by the Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code. 11. -440 -0015 Refrigeration Installer Certification All persons engaged in brazing or welding related to the installation, alteration or repair of refrigeration piping systems not regulated by the Oregon Boiler and Pressure Vessel Program under OAR Chapter 918, Division 225, shall be certified in accordance with the requirements of this rule. 12. Gas piping systems under 14 inches water column pressure, shall be tested at a pressure of not less than 10 pounds per square inch gage. Test pressures shall be held for not less than 15 minutes with no perceptible drop in pressure. For welded piping, and for piping carrying gas at pressures exceeding 14 inches water column (3484 Pa) pressure, the test pressure shall be at least 60 pounds per square inch for not less than 30 minutes. C406.4.1 13. Where vibration isolation of equipment and appliances is employed, an approved means of supplemental restraint shall be used to accomplish the support and restraint. OMSC 301.10 14. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. OMSC 307.1 Mercury Thermostats. The State of Oregon prohibits the installation of thermostats that contain mercury in commercial and residential buildings. "In accordance with ORS 455.355, the disposal of thermostats that contain mercury shall be in accordance with programs established by thermostat manufacturers, their representative or distributor, or by delivery to sites that will ensure that the mercury does not become part of the solid waste stream or wastewater." Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
