Re: 11513 SW Pacific Highway - Reroof Analysis .
Project Number: 2004
Dear Cheryl:
T.M. Rippey Consulting Engineers has completed the analysis from the existing roof structure to
determine if it could adequately support a new roof applied over the existing roof. The new roof will
provide an additional 2 1/4 pounds per square foot of weight to the roof system. The building is a
120' x 60' two story wood frame with the upper floor at the ground level on the east elevation and
the lower floor at ground level on the west elevation. The roof system consists of 42/20 span rated
plywood over 14" TJI /35 joists at 32" on center. The joists span 20' between glu -lam 5 1/8 x 16 1/2
beams. The glu -lam beams run east and west and are continuous over two 4 x 4 tube steel interior
columns and two 6 x 6-wood exterior columns. The roof system cantilevers 4' over the exterior wall
at the east elevation and 5' over the exterior wall at the west elevation.
The deck, joists, and glu -lam beams were analyzed with the proposed additional 2 1/4 pounds per
square foot of roofing. All of the components analyzed were determined to be adequate.
It is the opinion of T.M. Rippey Consulting Engineers that the existing roof system can adequately
support a new roof weighing 2 1/4 pounds per square foot.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
_ EXPIRED
