MINUTES
CALL- 'TO ORDER Chairman Biggs called tine joint meeting of the
City of Tigard and the Tigard School District
' Board of Directors to order. at 7:30 p.m.
ATTENDING Directors: Pat Biggs, Dan Larsen, John Thompson,
Mike Nelson
Council Members: Mayor John Cook, Tom Brian,
'Jerry Edwards, Bob Jean

respective cabinet members and stated that this
is the first 'Lime' that such a ;aeeting has been
held.
COMMENDATIONS Superintendent Joki. initiated a SUPER'Que.stion
contest in the district over the past several
weeks with the announcement of building winners
to be made during 'Tigard Education Week, March
17-21., 1986. These winner's and parents were
invited to at-tend this joint meeting for the
presentation of plaques and prizes for Heir
answers. Winners present were Lance Anderson,
Christina Berenmder, Kel li Hatt"-e1d, ;Brett Lieual len,
Dave Kearney, Cameron Halls Shannon 'Kasten, Kelly
Watanabe, Christopher Larson, Jason Guidos, Derek.

Mayor Cook spelled out the nine goals of the
council for 1986-87 1) to obtain an adequate ��ry
tax base, 2) develop a community information
program, 3) support the Metzger/Washington Square fin.
annexation ;to Tigard, 4) adopt urban service policy, M
5)- implement a transportation program, 6) support
beard and community programs, ?) expand cooperative
i4ter-governmental programs, 8) support downdown

development and 9) adopt a park: and recreation
program.
TQm Brian recently attended a Youth Town stall meeting
at C. F. Tigard and he informed everyone of his
eyperiences.
FUTURE OF THEDr. Joki and the Board members discussed several
SCHOOL DISTRICT topics`- as well. The goals of the District for
19.85--88 were reviewed by ,Larry Hibbard and were
distributed.
Dr. Joki discussed the proposed school resource
offices, program. He has made several presentations
tbroug " the District at various organizations

m(aetings, city council meetings and, at the schools 2
a"qd has received positive comments back.
T}le long range building plan was discussed briefly
also.. A committee is working in the District to01'ml
make recommendations to the Board :for the future
of, the building program in the District. s
A study will be conducted by Beaverton School District
to determine the feasibility of incorporating that
PQ rtion of the Beaverton School. District which lies
within the Tigard School District.. A survey will ,
be conducted during spring vacation and the results
will be known 'soon. Parents would be asked their
p eF�=s'ences for remaining in Beaverton or changing
to Ti gard.
ADJOURNMENT The joint meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m. and the
Board 'of Directors conducted a short regular meeting
fol.lo�fing at 9:50 P.M.
