Since the last meeting some materials have been purchased and more accurate cost estimates made. ; Total cost, including carpeting ,is estimated to be $2,104.85 andisbroken down as follows: 90 sheets of paneling @ $3.95 ea $369.35 4 cases of panel adhesive @ $18.00 72.00 1 glass door 100.00 3 lbs. of nails @ $1.50 .4.50 Moulding and finish lumber 159.00 255 sq. yds. of carpet @ $5.50 1.400.00 $2, 104.85 There is $2,000 budgeted for City Hall remodeling in the 1-16-320 account. The remaining $200.00 is proposed to be charged to the 1-18-240 account, Non-Departmental building and equipment maintenance and repair. There are sufficient funds in this account to be used for this purpose (November balance $1,826.60) and this cost assign- ment is appropriate in part because the paneling that will be done wi<11 eliminate some painting that would have been necessary. " In a similar fashion some of the other work scheduled to be done out of this account such as fixing the old police entrance door will be accopmlished as part of the proposed work. In regard to the carpet, three carpet dealers were requested to make proposals. Newberg Interiors has made the most desirable proposal in that they were cheapest at $5.50/sq. yard installed. This is jute backed commercial grade carpeting guaranteed at least 5 years laid over a rubber padding. All of the other proposals were for rubber backed carpet and were more expensive. In addition, Newberg Interior will do the work in sections so that we can finish one area, move into it and start on another. This will allows the least disruption of service. Also by going to the rubber mat and jute backed carpet, less work will have to be done on the floors to remove holes in the tile.
