MINUTES OF MEETING JUNE 19, 1962
Those present: Acting Mayor Verharen, Councilmen Aitken, Hanneman
and Woodard, and Attorney Anderson. And from the
Budget Committee Chairman Pietila, and Messrs
Rutherford and Webber.
Pill On MOTION by Councilman Woodard, SECOND by Councilman Aitken, and
passed, the following Resolution was adopted:
RESOLVED:
That a special election be held in the City of Tigard between
the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on the 9th day of July 1962,
to submit again to the legal voters of the City of Tigard, Oregon,
the following proposition:
For the reason that the City of Tigard has no tax base within
the 'limitation of Section 11, Article X1 of the Constitution of the
State of Oregon, and insufficient funds are available.to cover the
necessary personal services, maintenanceand operation'Costs, a
special levy to raise $17,600.50 is hereby referred to the voters:
Shall the City of. Tigard, Oregon be authorized to
levy for personal services, operation and maintenance
of the City for the year beginning July 1, 1962, and
ending June 30, 1963, the sum of $12,600.50?'
'RESOLVED:
That the City,Clerk and the City'Attorney be authorized and
directed to cause to have notices given, election materials pre-
pared,' and to take any and all other steps required incident to
the `h6lding 'and conducting of said election.
RESOLVED:
That Mrs Olen wolf, Mrs Roscoe Winters, Mrs Francis Cooper and
Mrs-Frank Adams, electors of the City of Tigard, be, and they are
hereby, designated to act as a board of election, and the City Clerk `
be, and.she:is hereby, directed to give,notice to the respective
members of the election board of each of their appointments.
On MOTION by Councilman Hanneman, SECOND by Councilman Woodard ,and
approved, meeting adjourned at;6:30 P. M.

MINUTES OP MEETING OF THE BUDGET COMMITTEE JUNE 19, 1962
t Those present: Chairman Pietila, Messrs Rutherford and Webber, and
' from the City Council Acting,Mayor Verharen, Council-
men Aitken, Hanneman and Woodard, and Attorney Anderson.
Chairman' Pietila called the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. There was
discussion of the city election of June 18, 1962, when the measures
requesting a special`,levy in the sum of $18,700.00 for the purchase
of a city hall, and a levy ;of $12,60G.50 for;personal services, oper-
ation and maintenance of the City for the year July 1, 1962 and ending
June 30,,:1963, were defeated.
It was agreed unanimously not to submit"again, at this time, the
measure requesting the sum of $18,700.00 for the purchase of the
United StatesNationalBank building at 12420 S is Main Street.
On MOTION by Acting Mayor verharen, SECOND by Councilman Woodard,
and approved, the following, Resolutionwas adopted:"
RESOLVED:
* That a special election be held in the City of Tigard between
the hours of 8:00 a.m.and 8:00 p.m. on the 9th day of July, 1962,
