RESOLUTION NO. 06- q
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO SUBMIT AN OREGON BICYCLE AND
PEDESTRIAN PROGRAM APPLICATION FOR SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS ON HALL
BOULEVARD NEAR BONITA ROAD
WHEREAS, the Oregon Department of Transportation has funding available for pedestrian and/or bicycle
projects for Fiscal Years 2008 and 2009; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard desires to participate in this grant program as a means of financing a
sidewalk improvement located along the east side of Hall Boulevard near Bonita Road; and
WHEREAS, the improvement specified above would fill a gap in the sidewalk network and provide safe
access to a proposed TriMet bus stop on Hall Boulevard within the project area; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project supports the Tigard Transportation System Plan goal to "Encourage
pedestrian accessibility by providing safe,secure,and desirable pedestrian routes"; and
WHEREAS, sidewalk infill is an eligible activity under the Transportation Enhancement Grant Program,
and;
WHEREAS,the installation of the specified sidewalk improvements is defined in an application for ODOT
Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Grant assistance; and
WHEREAS,the City hereby certifies that the matching share for this application will be readily available in
FY 2009 and 2010.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The City Manager is authorized to apply for a Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant from the
Oregon Department of Transportation for the installation of sidewalk on Hall Boulevard
near Bonita Road.
SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
