A RESOLUTION ADOPTING CHANGES TO THE BENEFIT PROVISIONS OF THE PERSONNEL
POLICIES FOR MANAGEMENT,SUPERVISORY,AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council has reviewed the current benefit package for all Management,
Supervisory and Confidential Employees,and determined that certain changes are appropriate to maintain a
competitive and equitable benefit package
NOW,T1 EREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that amendments to the current
Personnel Policies for Management,Supervisory and Confidential Employees as referenced in the attached
Exhibit A be adopted effective the following dates:
1)Article 4.2,Sick Leave,effective August 1,1998
2)Article 5.2,Long Term Disability Coverage,effective August 1,1998
3)Article 5.3,Life Insurance,effective August 1,1998
4)Article 4.1,Vacation Leave,effective July 1,1998

EXHIBIT A
ARTICLE 4.2,SICK LEAVE
DELETE:
"Whenever an employee receives a reimbursement for worker's compensation
time loss benefits,they shall report in writing to the Finance Director the amount
of the reimbursement and the period covered by the reimbursement.Time lost
for injuries covered by worker's compensation will not be charged to the
employee's accumulated sick leave except for the initial three day period
required by Oregon law."
NEW LANGUAGE:
"Sick leave benefits are not available for any illness or injury that is covered by
Worker's Compensation benefits provided by the City or another employer.The
City shall make up the difference between time loss payments and the
employee's regular net pay at the time of injury.The City shall continue to make
the same contribution to all benefit programs as would have been made if the
employee had worked his/her regularly scheduled hours of work.Whenever an
employee receives a reimbursement for worker's compensation time loss
benefits, he/she shall endorse the check and give it to the Finance Director or
their supervisor for deposit by the City. Time lost for injuries covered by worker's
compensation will not be charged to the employee's accumulated sick leave.
Worker's compensation will run concurrent with utilization of the Family Medical
Leave Act(FfWLA)."
ARTICLE 5.0,INSURANCE BENEFITS(5.2, Long Term Disability)
DELETE:
"After six months of continuous employment employees are covered by a long
term disability insurance program which will provide for 66 2/3%of their base
salary up to a limit of$2,333 per month in the event the employee should be
disabled and not have sick leave,workers compensation, or other insurance
coverage available to them."
NEW LANGUAGE:
"Effective on the first working day of the month following completion of six(6)full
months of continuctis employment, employees are covered by a long term
disability insurance program which will provide ror 66 2/3%of their base salary in
the evept the employee should be disabled and not have sick leave,worker's
compensation, or other insurance coverage available to them."
ARTICLE 5.0, INSURANCE BENEFITS(5.3, Life Insurance)
DELETE:
"After two months of continuous employment employees are covered by a
$25,000 life insurance policy with provisions for double indemnity and accidental
death and/or dismemberment."
NEW LANGUAGE:
"Effective on the first working day of the month following completion of two(2)
Afflah full months of continuous employment,employees are covered by a$50,000 life
insurance policy with provisions for double indemnity and accidental death
and/or dismemberment."
ARTICLE 4.0, LEAVE TIME(4.1,Vacation)
DELETE:
"Management and professional employees may receive pay in lieu of one week
of vacation leave each fiscal year.The employee must make such request in
writing and must request the payment in conjunction with a scheduled week of
vacation time off."
NEW LANGUAGE:
"Management and professional employees may receive pay in lieu of one week
of vacation leave each fiscal year, provided the payment is requested in
conjunction with a scheduled week of vacation time off. Employees may also
receive a pay in lieu of a second week of vacation each fiscal year,provided an
law additional five(5)days of vacation are taken off during the fiscal year."
