RESOLUT-ON NO. 90- 2
A nESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING APPLICATIONS FOR FEDERAL,
ASSISTANCE. FOR. MAKING HANDICAPPED At;ESS IMPROVEVENTS TO COOK AIND £NCI:EWOOD
PARKS.
WHERSAS, Cook and Englewood Parks are City-owned parks that are in need of
upgrading to ensure accessibility for the handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the elimination of physical barriers affecting handicapped persons
would increase the use and accessibility of these parks; and
WHEREAS, opportunities to recreate and to participate in community events are
important to the health and well-being of handicapped persons; and
WHERVAS, various physical access improvements to Cook and Englewood Parka are
defined in an application for federal Community Development Block Grant funds;
and
WHEREAS, Washington County will receive an estimated $1.1 million per year for
the next three years, for which twelve cities and the county will compete for
y the funding of various projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that: the city of
Tigard, Oregon,, based on the aforementioned considerations, hereby expresses
its support for constructing handicapped access improvements to Cook and
Englewood Parka and authorizes submission of an application for federal
assistance.
