RESOLUTION NO. 89-&'-?
A RESOLUTION WELCOMING THE WASHINGTON COUNTY HEAD START PROGRAM TO ITS NEW
LOCATION IN TIGARD AND PLEDGING ASSISTANCE.
W,i.RREAS, in September 1989 the Washington Country Head Start Program will be
moving its Sherwood center to space at the City University building, located at
12600 SW 72nd Avenue, and
WHEREAS, said program is a comprehensive preschool program for the cognitive,
emotional, and social development of preschool children, and
WHEREAS, said program will be staffed by six adults and will have space for
thirty-six children, and
WHEREAS, said program is sponsored by the federal government through the
Department of Human Services and by the State of Oregon through the Department
of Education, and
wHERF•As, said program will operate from September to June of each year, and
WHEREAS, the location of said comprehensive child- and family-oriented program
within the community will be a major new resource for low-income families
residing in the City of Tigard, and
WHEREAS, said program will have an economic impact on the City by providing
jobs and services to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED by the Tigard city Council thatz
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Tigard wishes to welcome the
Washington county Head Start Program to its new location in City
University and to the City of Tigard, on behalf of all city
residents, the Council expresses its support for the success and
vitality of the Head Start Program.
