A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY C07JNCIL SUPPORTING REFERRAL OF THE REDUCED
MAJOR STREETS TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM MEASURE (HSTIP).
WHEREAS, the Washington County Transportation Coordinating Com¢,'ttee (WCTGC)
has recommended to the Board that a reduced Major Streets Transportation
Improvement Program (MSTIP) levy in the amount of $24 million be referred to
the voters; and
WHEREAS, the measure qualifies for maximum State and Federal matching funds
estimated at $33 million; and
WHEREAS, the measure is for County wide priority improvements; including the
Bull Mountain/99W intersection improvements, the Tualatin/Sherwood Road
Improvements, and engineering for the Westerly By-Pass, benefitting the
Tigard area; and
WHEREAS, the measure is consistent with the previously established City
Council criterion on County levies and tax equities supporting measures which
are either:
I. Equal County-wide costs and benefits
2. only localized costs and benefits, or
3. County-wide with a share bec% to cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
1. The Tigard Ci'::y Council hereby supports the reduced MSTIP levy; and
2. Endorses the measure being placed before the voters of Washington
County and the City of Tigard.
