RESOLUTION No. 82- 43
A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL ENCOURAGING MSD IMPLEMENT A SOLID WASTE
TRANSFER STATION SYSTEM FOR TIGARD-WASHINGTON COUNTY CITIZENS.
WHEREAS, Disposal of solid waste is one of the most basic services which
government offers to its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Those disposal sites in the Portland metropolitan region which have
traditionally served the Tigard-Washington County citizenry are slated for
closure within one year; and
WHEREAS, Conveniently located disposal sites enable franchised haulers to reduce
their operational costs and lessen pressure to increase rates to our citizenry; and
WHEREAS, A conveniently located disposal site with public access and recycling
opportunities would discourage roadside dumping and encourage public participation
toward the national objective of saving energy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
That the City of Tigard encourages the Metropolitan Service District Council to
implement a solid waste transfer station system which provides for a conveniently
located transfer station, of adequate capacity, with public access and recycling
opportunities, to serve the needs of the citizens of Tigard and Washington County.
