RESOLUTION No. 81- 13
A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING WASHINGTON COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS COMBINED LEVY FOR ROAD REPAIRS, LAW ENFORCEMENT & GENERAL
FUND.
WHEREAS, the Washington County Board of Commissioners has decided
to place just one combined serial levy on the March 31 ballot to cover
essential needs for law enforcement, road repairs, and General Fund
activities; and
WHEREAS, after making cuts from earlier financial proposals, the
B-ard voted unanimously to go for a combined cost figure of $23,960,732
for each of two years; and
WHEREAS, the levy of almost $24 million per year, which would start
in the fall of this year 1981-82 operations, translates to about $163
on an owner occupied home valued at $60,000; and
WHEREAS, the combined package will be $10.9 million per year for
general services including the sheriff's department, court operations,
additional prosecutors and juvenile counselors, planning staff, health
and other human care programs including the veterans service officer.
Park of the funding replaces the formerly separate law enforcement levy
which expires in July of this year; and
WHEREAS, the remaining $13 million is earmarked for increased road
repairs and maintenance, with $3 million inside incorporated cities and
the balance on the county road system outside city limito.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL THAT:
The Council supports the establishment of one combined serial
levy on the March 31st ballot to cover essential needs for law enforce-
ment, road repairs, and general fund activities.
