CHARLES JORDAN Mr. William Braun

CHIEF OF POLICE Dear Mr. Braun:
222 S.W, P.
PINE
PORTLAND,O .97206 It has been brought to my attention that
you were responsible
for notifying the police regarding a burglary in progress at the
store where you are employed. Not only did you notify the police
but you gave pursuit to the burglars and apprehended them single-
handedly. You put aside your concern for your own welfare and safety
as you had no idea whether the suspects were armed or not, or if
they were dangerous and had no concern for the safety of other persons.
It is really encouraging to learn that there are citizens in
our city who are really engaging in and supporting our crime preven-
tion efforts in the area of "watching out for one another." I am
really impressed with your actions and your willingness to get
involved.
Mr. Braun, you are definitely an asset to this community--in
which you work--and to your own community of Tigard. Thank you for
helping us make this a safer city and for making our job a little
easier. Please accept my congratulations for being an outstanding
citi•:en. We are all proud of you--the City of Portland, the Police
Bureau and myself.
Very truly yours,
B. R. BAKER
