CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON
RESOLUTION No. 76-
A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN INTENT TO OFFER NON-FEE LIBRARY SERVICE TO ALL
RESIDENTS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF COOPERATIVE LIBRARY
SERVICES, AND TO ACCEPT $25,989 ON AN ANNUAL BASIS AS RAISED BY A COUNTY-
WIDE THREE YEAR SERIAL LEVY AS COMPENSATION FOR OFFERING SUCH LIBRARY
SERVICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard has joined the other cities of
Washington County which offer public library service and the private,
University, school and volunteer libraries in offering Cooperative
Library Service to all county residents through participation in a grant
from the Oregon State Library Board for the 1975-76 year; and
WHEREAS, the Cooperative Library Service intends to offer a
three-year serial levy for approval of the voters of Washington County on
the next Primary Election Date; and
WHEREAS, a budget for distribution of funds to be raised upon
approval of the three year serial levy is set forth in Exhibit A attached
here to and by this reference made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the amount $25,989 has been specif--ed as compensation
to be paid on an annual basis to the library budget of the city library
to serve county residents; and
i. WHEREAS, the City Librarian, City Library-Commission and City
Administrator have determined this amount adequate to offer such service
with no impairment either in level or quality of service offered residents
of Tigard; and
WHEREAS, the need to supply non-fee direct library service to the
125,000 county residents now without such service has been established; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the city of Tigard will receive
substantial improvements in library service through the other serv;ces
to be offered to all county residents, both those now served and those
non-served, by the Cooperative Library Service; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON:
Section 1: The Council hereby declares its intent to offer all residents
"
of Washington County .non-fee access to the city library
effective upon passage of the three year serial Levy funding
countywide compensation for such service.
Section 2: The persons benefitted will be all citizens of the City of
Tigard and those 1259000 persons now without direct library
