67-54 (heretofore known as the Mechanical Code), PRESCRIBING FEES,
DEFINING FIRE ZONES, Dk:Fi:PdING VIOLATIONS AND FIXING PENALTIES.
THE CITY OFF"TGARD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as the "CITY OF TIGARD
U.tIFORPI 3UI ,DING CODE OF 1970" and may be cited as such.
Section 2: The contents of the following Volumes of the Uniform
Building Code, 1970 Edition, published in 19y� by the
International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same are,
hereby adopted, and are hereby incorporated herein by reference to
the same legal force ;and effect as if set forth herein in full, part
by part, chapter by chapter, section by section, pursuant to author-
ity of 4221.330 O.R.S. which by reference herein is likewise made a
part hereof:
(a) Volume I, Uniform Building Code, 1970 Edition
(b) Standarde for Volume I, Uniform Building Code, 1970
Edition
(c) Voliune I1, Uniform Mechanical Code of the 1970
Edition of the Uniform Building Code
(d) Volume _III, 'mousing, 1970 Edition of the Uniform
Building Code
(e) Volume IV, Dangerous Buildings, 1970 Edition of the
Uniform Building Code
(f) Volume V, Signs, 1970 Edition of the Uniform Building
Codi
Not less than three (3) copies of each of the foregoing
Volumes shall be kapt and maintained on file in the office of the City
Recorder of the City of Tigard for use and examination by the public,
pursuant to 41221.330 O.R,S.
Se-tion a3• Building Permit Fees. Section 303(a), Building Permit
Epees, Volume 1, 1970 Edition of the Uniform Building Code,
is hereby amended and supplemented as follows:
(a) No fees shall be exacted for work undertaken by
the City of Tigard; by the State cf Oregon, its
subdivisions or agencies; by the Federal Govern

mEnt, .its subdivisions or agencies; by Washington
County, or by any school district, ifthework be
done by such governmental units' own employees.

(b) Fees for the issuance of permits for circuses,
animal shows, wild west snows or similar exhibi-
tions helot in tents shall. be $100.00.
r (c) All fees for other activities conducted within
the purview of this Ordinance shall conform to
Section 303(a), Building Permit Fees, Volume I,
1970 Edition of tae Uniform Building Code, or
Section 304, Volume Il:, Uniform Mechanical Code,
1970 Edition of the Uniform Building Code, as
applicable.
Section II: Fire 2�nes. Section 1601(x), Part IV, Chapter 16 of Vol-
ume I;1j70 Edition of the Uniform Building Code, is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec.1601(a) - Fire 'Zones Defined.
"For the purposes of this Code, the entire City of
Tigard is hereby declared and is hereby established
a Fire District, and said Fire District shall be
known and designated a:: Fire Zones One, Two and Three.
"Each of such Fire Zones shall conform to those Land-
Use 'Lone or Zones set forth in Section 210-10 - Fi11E
Z014ES - of Ordinance No. 70.32 known as "City of
Tigard .:ening Ordinance of 1970".
"Whenever in this Code reference is made to any Fire
Zona, it shall be construed to mean the applicable
Fire Zona as designated in Section 210-10 - FIPvs
ZONuS-of said Ordinance No. 70-3211.
Section 5: Violations and Penalties. The penalties provided by
Fart T, Chapter 2, Section 205 of Volume 1, 1970 Edition
of the Uniform Building Code as hereinabove adopted, shall be appli-
cable -to any violation of this Code; the same readin0; as follows:
"Sec 205.
"It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corpora-
tion to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair,
move, improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use,
occupy or maintain any building or structure in the
city, or cause the same to be done, contrary to or in
violation of any of the provisions of this Code.
"Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of ttis Code shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemearor, and each such person shall be deemed
guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or
portion thereof during which any violation of any of
the previsions of this Code is committed, continued,
or permitted, and upon ::onviati.on of any such violation
such person shall be punishable by a fine of not more
than $300., or by imprisonment for not more than 90
days, or by both such fine and imprisonment."
Section 6: Repealer. That Ordinance No.67-53 (heretofore known as
the Building Code) and Ordinance No.67-54 (heretofore
known as the Mechanical Code), and any other ordinances or portions

of ordinances which shall be inconsistent with the provisions hereof `
or of the said Uniform Building Code, 1970 Edition, as hereinabo„G
adopted, be, and the same are, hereby repealed effective with the
effective dat-, of this Ordinance.
Section 7: This Ordinance shall be effective on and after the 31st
day after Its enactment by the City Council and approval
by the Mayor.
PASSED: By unanimous vote of all Council members present, after
being read three times by number and title only,
